Founding AI/ML Engineer

Location: India | Employment: Full time | Work Model: Remote/Hybrid

About the Role

We are looking for our first AI/ML Engineer to help establish and grow our AI capabilities in behavioral health. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys turning ambiguous business and clinical problems into practical AI solutions.

You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Clinical, and external AI/ML development partners to identify opportunities, evaluate approaches, build prototypes, and bring successful solutions into production.

What Youll Do

- Identify and develop high-value AI/ML use cases across clinical workflows, member experience, and operations.
- Build and deploy AI/ML solutions using LLMs, RAG, agents, NLP, guardrails, and related technologies.
- Define evaluation approaches and measure quality, safety, accuracy, cost, and user value.
- Serve as the internal technical lead when working with third-party AI/ML development partners for defining requirements, reviewing designs and results, and ensuring successful integration.
- Help establish our AI architecture, technology standards, model/vendor strategy, and reusable AI capabilities.
- Work with Clinical and Product teams to ensure AI solutions are practical, safe, and aligned with real-world workflows.
- Help establish responsible AI practices for sensitive behavioral health data.

What We’re Looking For

- 5+ years of software engineering, ML engineering, or related experience.




- Proven experience building and deploying AI/ML models that are being used in production.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs/GenAI, including RAG, fine-tuning, agents, NLP, guardrails, and related technologies.
- Experience with experiment tracking and reproducibility, including model, code, and data versioning.
- Strong Python and backend engineering skills.
- Excellent grasp of the data science concepts.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML evaluation and how to move beyond prototypes into reliable production systems.
- Comfortable working in an early-stage environment and helping shape how the company builds AI.
- Relevant Tools: Python, FastAPI, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, OpenAI/LLM APIs, LangChain, LangGraph, LangSmith, LangFuse, Vector DB (Weaviate, Qdrant), LoRA/QLoRA, Braintrust, Arize Phoenix, MLFlow

Nice to Have

- Experience working with external engineering, AI/ML, or technology development partners.
- Healthcare or behavioral health experience.
- Experience with sensitive or regulated data.

What Success Looks Like In the first 6 months, you will help us:

- Launch our first meaningful AI pilot and move successful solutions into production.
- Establish a repeatable identify prototype evaluate pilot scale process.
- Build a strong working model with our external AI/ML development partners.
- Establish the foundations for a scalable, secure, and responsible AI capability.
- Help identify and deliver the next generation of AI-powered product and clinical capabilities.
