Director – AI & Data Science

We are looking for an experienced Director – AI & Data Science to lead and scale multiple Data Science and AI teams within a global media, data and technology organisation .

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for establishing the technical direction, culture and operating rhythm of a growing AI & Data Science function. You will lead teams across Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Generative AI, NLP, Computer Vision, statistical modelling and MLOps , while working closely with senior stakeholders across India and international markets.

The role combines technical leadership, people management and strategic delivery . You will be responsible for developing high-performing teams while ensuring AI and data science initiatives translate into measurable business outcomes.

The Role

You will lead multiple teams of Data Scientists, AI specialists and Analytics Engineers , with both direct and indirect management responsibility.

Working with local and global leadership, you will establish strong technical standards and scalable ways of working while creating an setting focused on collaboration, innovation and continuous development.

Key responsibilities will include

- Leading and developing multiple AI, Data Science and Analytics Engineering teams .
- Establishing the technical strategy, operating cadence and engineering standards across the function.
- Driving initiatives across Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, Generative AI and MLOps .
- Overseeing the development, deployment and ongoing management of machine learning models, AI/LLM solutions and production data pipelines .
- Leading the development of GenAI solutions , including Agentic RAG systems, Small Language Models (SLMs), prompt engineering, text generation and content summarisation.




- Developing NLP solutions across areas such as sentiment analysis, topic modelling, information extraction and conversational AI .
- Leading Computer Vision initiatives involving image and video analysis, object detection, classification and video understanding .
- Driving advanced statistical modelling, machine learning, data mining and experimental design.
- Increasing the use of predictive and prescriptive analytics across business operations.
- Establishing rigorous quality assurance processes to maintain the accuracy and integrity of data and analytical outputs.
- Applying an automation-first mindset to recurring analytics, simulations and workflows.
- Working closely with Product, Technology and other global Data Science teams on cross-functional initiatives.
- Building and maintaining a strong talent pipeline, including relationships with universities, internship programmes and graduate talent.
- Tracking team performance, productivity, development and retention.
- Staying ahead of emerging developments across AI, Generative AI, Data Science and media analytics and contributing to thought leadership.

Key Experience The successful candidate will bring:
- 13+ years' experience across Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and/or advanced statistics.
- A proven track record of building, managing and developing high-performing technical teams .
- Strong foundations in statistical modelling, machine learning algorithms, experimental design and data manipulation .




- 10+ years' experience with technologies such as Python, Spark, R, SAS, Scala and/or SQL .
- Hands-on knowledge of modern Generative AI and LLM technologies , including RAG, SLMs, prompt engineering and model fine-tuning.
- Experience deploying and managing ML and GenAI models in production environments .
- Strong NLP experience using frameworks such as Hugging Face Transformers, SpaCy, NLTK or Gensim .
- Computer Vision experience with technologies such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras and OpenCV .
- Experience designing data pipelines, analytics workflows and self-service data applications .
- Approximately 3–5 years' experience working within cloud environments , ideally AWS.
- Experience with workflow and development tools such as Airflow, JIRA and Confluence .
- Exposure to low-code/no-code analytics platforms such as Alteryx .
- Experience with visualisation platforms including Tableau, Power BI, Looker or Spotfire .
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate effectively within a global organisation.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or another quantitative discipline is required, with a PhD highly advantageous. Experience within media, audience measurement, streaming, entertainment, advertising analytics or market research would be particularly valuable.

Location The position is based in Bangalore, India and operates on a hybrid working model .
