Purpose of the Role: To ensure full compliance with Tata Steel Contractor Safety Management System (CSMS) requirements at Khopoli, specifically Annexure-9, Parameter 2 - Deployment of Competent Site Safety Supervisor, and to support protected execution of transportation and allied operations.
- Minimum 2-5 years’ experience as a Site Safety Supervisor
- Prior exposure to Steel Plant / Heavy Industry / Logistics / Transport Operations
- Experience working at large industrial client sites preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
1. CSMS & Annexure-9 Compliance:
- Ensure 100% compliance with CSMS requirements applicable to vendor organizations
- Support Annexure-9 Parameter 2.2 during audits
- Maintain valid gate pass / safety pass
- Coordinate with Tata Steel Safety Officers during audits and inspections
1. On-Site Safety Supervision:
- Conduct daily site safety inspections
- Identify and report unsafe acts & unsafe conditions
- Ensure PPE compliance (Tata Steel approved PPE)
- Monitor vehicle and driver safety norms
1. Toolbox Talks (TBT) / KYT:
- Conduct daily Tool Box Talks / KYT
- Maintain records (date, topic, attendance, key points)
- Ensure SOPs are discussed before high-risk activities
1. SOP, HIRA & Hazard Mapping:
- Ensure availability of SOPs for all activities
- Support Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA)
- Ensure hazard mapping and PPE deployment
1. Incident & Near-Miss Management:
- Ensure immediate reporting of incidents / near misses
- Support incident investigation and RCA
- Assist in preparation and closure of CARs
1. Training & Workforce Awareness:
- Ensure compliance with Training Need Identification (TNI)
- Monitor training records for workers and drivers
- Improve awareness on Life Saving Rules and incident reporting
Key Skills Required:
- Knowledge of CSMS and contractor safety systems
- Strong communication and audit-handling skills
- Basic reporting and documentation capability
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to: Operations / Safety Head (Vendor Organization)
- Coordination with: Tata Steel Safety Team - Khopoli
Criticality of Role: This role is mandatory for CSMS Star Rating and directly impacts audit scores, site safety performance, and continuity of Tata Steel business.
