The Senior Ultrasound Technician is responsible for independently performing high-quality ultrasound examinations, ensuring patient safety and comfort, maintaining imaging standards, and supporting radiologists in accurate diagnosis. The role also involves mentoring junior technicians and ensuring compliance with statutory and hospital protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and assist in all routine and specialized ultrasound procedures as per clinical requirements.
- Ensure accurate patient identification, preparation, and positioning prior to examinations.
- Operate ultrasound equipment efficiently and maintain optimal image quality.
- Assist radiologists during procedures and provide preliminary technical observations when required.
- Maintain proper documentation, reports, and image archiving as per hospital policy.
- Ensure strict adherence to PNDT Act guidelines and maintain statutory registers and records.
- Supervise, guide, and train junior ultrasound technicians and trainees.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other departments for smooth workflow.
- Ensure cleanliness, calibration,
and preventive maintenance of ultrasound machines.
- Follow infection control, radiation safety (where applicable), and patient confidentiality protocols.
- Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental meetings.
Qualifications
- Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Imaging Technology / Radiology / Ultrasound Technology.
- Valid registration with relevant statutory authority (where applicable).
Experience
- Minimum 4-7 years of relevant experience in ultrasound imaging.
- Prior experience in a hospital or diagnostic setup is mandatory.
- Experience in handling PNDT documentation is preferred.
