I'm looking for an experienced agriculturist to advise on my private plot of vegetables and pulses on the outskirts of Ludhiana. The goal is to get more out of the land: better yields, healthier soil and a planned year-round cropping cycle, using organic, chemical-free methods.
Responsibilities
- Assess soil health and arrange soil and water testing. Recommend a plan to improve fertility.
- Design a seasonal cropping and rotation plan for winter and summer vegetables and pulses (such as moong, mash, masoor and chana).
- Recommend suitable PAU varieties, sowing times, spacing and intercropping.
- Advise on organic nutrient management: farmyard manure, vermicompost, green manure and bio-fertilisers.
- Identify pests and diseases early and recommend organic control measures.
- Plan productive irrigation (drip or sprinkler) and how to protect crops in heat, monsoon and frost.
- Guide the on-site helper during field visits and keep a simple record of advice, inputs and yields.
- Give a short monthly update on crop progress, yields and next steps.
Requirements
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Agriculture or Horticulture, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- At least 5 years of practical experience with vegetables and/or pulses in Punjab.
- Working knowledge of organic or natural farming practices.
- Familiar with PAU recommendations and the local growing calendar.
- Can visit the farm 1–2 times a week and is reachable by phone or WhatsApp.
- Speaks Punjabi and Hindi.
Good to Have
- Training in organic farming from PAU or KVK.
- Experience with vermicompost units or growing in a net house.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
