We are seeking an experienced COBOL AS400 Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of critical business applications running on the IBM iSeries (AS400) platform. This role involves working extensively with legacy systems, enhancing existing functionalities, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring the stability and optimal performance of our core applications. A strong understanding of COBOL programming, the AS400 operating environment, and relational database concepts is essential. You will collaborate closely with business analysts, project managers, and other IT team members to deliver robust, efficient, and reliable solutions that meet evolving business requirements. - Develop, modify, and maintain COBOL programs on the AS400 platform to support and enhance various business operations and processes.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, system defects, and performance bottlenecks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform system enhancements and implement new functionalities based on detailed business requirements and technical specifications.
- Design, implement,



and manage database changes using DB2/400, including writing and optimizing SQL queries.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for existing and newly developed applications, processes, and system configurations.
- Participate actively in the full software development life cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering and design to coding, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business users, to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Conduct thorough unit testing of developed code and provide support for system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Monitor system performance, identify areas for improvement, and optimize COBOL applications for efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
- Provide on-call support for critical applications and systems as part of a rotating schedule to ensure continuous business operations.
- Adhere to established coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines throughout the development process.
- Assist in the migration or integration of legacy AS400 systems with newer technologies where applicable.
