Job Description

Key Responsibilities
• Review the overall HVDC system architecture, design criteria and technical interfaces.




• Review OEM documents for VSC converters, converter valves, converter transformers and associated auxiliaries.
• Review AC/DC filters, phase reactors, smoothing reactors, harmonic filters and reactive-power equipment.
• Review station control, pole control, valve control, protection, monitoring and sequence-of-events systems.
• Review operating modes, power-control functions, voltage and reactive-power control and system recovery philosophy.
• Review control and protection coordination between the HVDC system, AC substations, grid protection, SCADA and telecom systems.
• Review applicable system studies, including load flow, short circuit, harmonic, insulation coordination, overvoltage, dynamic-performance and electromagnetic-interference studies.
• Verify technical interfaces between converter transformers, valves, cooling systems, control systems and station auxiliaries.
