The role:
You will run editorial for AIM's US publications: the daily enterprise AI site at aimmediahouse.com and the vertical newsletters launching for banking, pharma and life sciences, manufacturing and retail. Every editor on these titles reports to you, including the US-based editors who own each vertical's voice and original reporting. This is a working editor's job. You edit every day, you run the morning file, and you decide what is good enough to publish.
The team does not exist yet: you hire it, in Bengaluru and in the US, and you build the workflow that lets a desk here produce a daily product for American readers.
Based in Bengaluru. Reports to the CEO.
What you will do
- Edit daily. Run the morning news list, edit copy across all titles, and make the call on what runs, what gets held and what gets killed.
- Hire and lead the team: writers, editors and newsletter producers in Bengaluru, and one vertical editor in the US for each publication.
- Design the desk. Bengaluru handles the volume work of aggregation, curation, data and production; US editors handle sourcing, interviews and original reporting. You make that split work across a ten-hour time difference, every day.
- Set the standard. Sourcing, accuracy, US style and spelling, a transparent line between original reporting and aggregation, and a transparent byline policy for work produced in Bengaluru.
- Launch the verticals in sequence, each with its own editor, cadence and voice, and hold the daily cadence once a title is live.
- Grow the readership that matters. Work with the growth team on list building and measure the titles on named senior readers and open rates rather than page views.
- Keep sponsors and editorial apart. Sponsored content is labelled, independence is visible, and AIM Research's data feeds stories rather than the other way round.
What you will bring
- 15+ years in business or technology journalism, with at least four running a desk, a section or a publication.
- You have run a daily. A newsletter, a wire desk or a news site that went out every day on your watch, and you know what it takes to keep that up for years.
- You have edited for US readers. You know what an American executive expects from a trade publication and how the writing differs from what works in India.
- You can tell a real deployment from a press release. You understand enterprise AI well enough to push a writer for the number, the customer and the outcome.
- You have hired and managed editors, including people in other time zones and other countries.
- You can work with the US morning. Your day will run late into the evening in Bengaluru several days a week
