Key Responsibility

· Own complex backend modules end-to-end, from database schema and business logic through to API contracts.

· Design and build scalable, secure backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

· Make architectural and technical design decisions and communicate trade-offs clearly.

· Provide technical guidance to the backend development team, including code reviews, coding standards and problem-solving support.

· Write clean, maintainable, well-tested and well-documented code.

· Collaborate with frontend developers and DevOps on integration, deployment and production support.

· Apply strong security practices across authentication, authorisation and data handling.

· Troubleshoot production issues using a structured root-cause-focused approach.

Must Have:

· Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

· Minimum 15 years of relevant software/backend development experience, with strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot expertise.





· Strong experience designing and building production-grade backend systems and RESTful APIs beyond basic CRUD functionality.

· Deep understanding of the Spring Boot ecosystem, including Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, Spring MVC and Spring Kafka.

· Strong PostgreSQL experience, including complex queries, schema design, indexing and performance optimisation.

· Solid understanding of JWT, OAuth2, role-based access control and session management.

· Experience with Hibernate/JPA and ORM performance considerations, including N+1 queries, lazy loading and query optimisation.

· Experience writing automated tests using JUnit, Mockito or similar tools.

· Strong understanding of SOLID principles, clean architecture and design patterns.

· Experience with Redis for caching or session management.

· Proficiency with Git and experience working in Agile or iterative development environments.

· Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring or code-review guidance to backend developers.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Highly Preffered:

· Experience in fintech, compliance-heavy or regulated-industry platforms.

· Familiarity with KYC / KYB / AML workflows or third-party identity verification providers.

· Experience with Apache Kafka or event-driven architecture.

· Experience with Azure cloud services and blob storage.

· Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.

· Experience working in an early-stage startup environment.
