About the roleYou will own a physical product line end to end, from the first customer insight to units shipping off the line and the experience after purchase. You sit at the centre of industrial design, mechanical, electrical, firmware, manufacturing, supply chain, and go-to-market teams, and you decide what gets built, why, and when.

Experience: 4–8 years

What you'll doStrategy and discovery

- Talk to customers, retailers, and service teams to find the problems worth solving; turn them into a transparent product vision and multi-year roadmap.
- Size markets, study competitors, and build business cases covering target price, bill of materials (BOM) cost, margin, and volume.

Definition

- Write product requirement documents (PRDs) that set features, performance specs, certifications, and cost targets.
- Make the trade-offs between cost, quality, features, and schedule, and document why.

Development and launch

- Drive the product through the build gates (EVT, DVT, PVT) to mass production with engineering and contract manufacturers.
- Work with sourcing on component selection, supplier risk, and lead times; keep BOM cost on target.
- Define test plans and quality gates with QA, and own the decision to ship.
- Plan launches with marketing, sales, and service: positioning, pricing, packaging, channel readiness, and spares.

After launch

- Track returns, field failures, reviews, and service tickets; turn them into fixes, firmware updates, and next-generation requirements.
- If the product is connected, own the companion app and firmware roadmap alongside the hardware.

What we're looking for




- 4+ years in product management, with at least 2 years on physical products.
- Shipped at least one hardware product from concept to mass production.
- Working knowledge of the hardware lifecycle: build gates, DFM, BOM costing, tooling, and certification (BIS, CE, FCC, or similar).
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers, including in-factory visits.
- Comfortable with numbers: unit economics, pricing, forecasting, and P&L; impact.
- Clear writer and communicator who can align engineers, executives, and partners.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have
- Background as a hardware, mechanical, or electrical engineer before moving into product.
- Experience with connected (IoT) devices, embedded firmware, and companion mobile apps.
- Consumer electronics or home appliance experience, including retail and e-commerce channels.
- Exposure to manufacturing in India, China, or Southeast Asia.
- Familiarity with sustainability requirements: repairability, materials, and e-waste rules.

How success is measuredFirst 90 days

- Learn the current products, customers, and supplier base; visit the factory floor.
- Audit the roadmap and BOM costs, and bring a prioritised set of improvements.
- Own at least one in-flight program through its next build gate.

Ongoing

- Launches hit their planned date, cost, and quality targets.
- Product margin and BOM cost stay on plan.
- Return rate and field failure rate fall generation over generation.
- Customer ratings and NPS rise for the products you own.
