Hiring: Odia (Oriya) Language Document Annotation Specialist

About the RoleWe are looking for detail-oriented, native-level Odia (Oriya) language experts to support an AI data development project focused on improving document understanding in regional languages.

You will work with PDF documents such as newspapers, textbooks, examination papers, forms, flyers, manuals, brochures, notices, and worksheets. Your role will involve identifying document structures and accurately transcribing visible text in the original Odia script.

Key Responsibilities

- Review PDF documents for language, legibility, and content suitability.
- Identify and label document components, including headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, figures, captions, formulas, questions, and answer fields.
- Accurately transcribe visible text in Odia script, preserving spelling and script-specific details.
- Identify the correct reading order of document components.
- Handle complex layouts, including multi-column text, tables, diagrams, forms, and handwritten content.
- Flag illegible or unclear text according to project guidelines.
- Record document metadata and follow established annotation quality standards.
- Review annotations completed by other language experts when required.

Required Qualifications
- Native or native-equivalent proficiency in Odia (Oriya).




- Excellent command of the Odia script and spelling conventions.
- Solid attention to detail and character-level transcription accuracy.
- Experience in transcription, annotation, proofreading, translation, localization, journalism, or regional-language data review.
- Ability to interpret complex document layouts and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in AI data annotation, OCR correction, linguistic labeling, or dataset quality assurance.
- Familiarity with Odia typing tools, Unicode text, and script-specific character accuracy.
- Experience in document digitization, typesetting, copy-editing, or proofreading.

Compensation & Work Arrangement
- Pay: $10–$11 per hour, subject to project terms.
- Work Mode: Remote.
- Engagement: Contract / Project-Based.
- Documents will be provided; independent document sourcing is not required.
- All annotation and transcription must be human-authored and completed in the original Odia script.
- Work will be subject to quality review.
