About Lorazzo

Lorazzo is building a new-age, design-first bath and kitchen brand for modern Indian homes. We combine distinctive design, thoughtful functionality and smart enhancements to make everyday home spaces better. We are building a differentiated faucetware portfolio across categories such as basin faucets, kitchen faucets, health faucets, shower systems and other bathroom fittings. We work with manufacturing partners rather than operating our own factories.

We are looking for a hands-on product engineering and commercialisation professional who can bridge the gap between design, engineering and manufacturing — ensuring that every product we launch is technically sound, commercially viable, reliable and ready to scale.

The Role

As Manager – Product Engineering & Commercialisation, you will own the journey from product concept and engineering development to supplier readiness, quality validation and commercial production.

You will work closely with industrial designers, OEM manufacturers, component suppliers, testing laboratories and the internal product and business teams to bring differentiated faucetware products to market.

This role requires a combination of technical depth, manufacturing understanding, vendor management and execution excellence. You should be equally comfortable reviewing a technical drawing, challenging a manufacturer's quotation, troubleshooting a leakage issue and driving a product launch timeline.

Key Responsibilities

Product engineering and design for manufacturing

- Translate product concepts and industrial designs into technically feasible, production-ready products.
- Develop and review 3D CAD models, 2D engineering drawings, technical specifications, BOMs and dimensional tolerances.
- Drive Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) to ensure products are reliable, easy to assemble and commercially viable.
- Work on faucet components and mechanisms, including brass bodies, cartridges, aerators, handles, spouts, diverters, flow-control systems and associated fittings.
- Evaluate materials, component specifications, manufacturing processes and finishes to balance aesthetics, performance, durability and cost.
- Identify engineering risks early and resolve design, fitment, performance and manufacturability issues before production.

OEM Development & Supplier Management

- Identify, evaluate and onboard suitable OEM/ODM manufacturing partners for faucetware and related components.
- Assess supplier capabilities across casting, forging, CNC machining, polishing, electroplating, PVD coating, assembly and packaging, as applicable.

- Coordinate technical discussions with manufacturers and convert product requirements into clear specifications and manufacturing instructions.
- Drive prototype development, sample iterations, tooling development, pilot runs and production readiness.
- Work with suppliers to establish target costs, optimise component specifications and improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Build strong supplier relationships while maintaining accountability for quality, timelines, costs and agreed specifications.

Product Testing, Quality & Reliability

- Develop product validation plans and quality acceptance criteria for new and existing products.
- Establish testing protocols for leakage, operating pressure, flow performance, cartridge endurance, handle cycling, finish durability, corrosion resistance and other relevant parameters.
- Coordinate testing with qualified external laboratories wherever required.
- Define incoming inspection, in-process inspection and final product quality standards with manufacturing partners.
- Investigate product defects, field failures, customer complaints and warranty claims using structured root-cause analysis.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and ensure that corrective measures are sustained.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian standards, regulatory requirements and certification obligations.

New Product Introduction (NPI) & Commercialisation

- Own product development timelines from engineering feasibility and sampling to design freeze, pilot production and commercial launch.
- Coordinate cross-functional dependencies across design, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, packaging and business teams.
- Ensure approved specifications, BOMs, quality plans, packaging requirements and production processes are documented before launch.
- Drive pilot production and first-article approvals before authorising scaled commercial production.
- Resolve manufacturing bottlenecks and ensure products can be produced consistently at the required quality and volume.
- Maintain a clear development tracker covering milestones, owners, risks, costs and launch readiness.

Cost Engineering & Product Economics

- Build and validate product cost estimates, including material,

components, manufacturing, finishing, tooling and packaging.
- Evaluate supplier quotations against target costs and identify opportunities for value engineering.
- Drive cost optimisation without compromising product performance, durability or design intent.
- Support MOQ negotiations, alternate component development and supplier diversification.
- Partner with the business team to ensure products meet target landed-cost and gross-margin requirements.

Continuous Improvement & Product Lifecycle Management

- Track quality performance, defect rates, returns and warranty trends across the product portfolio.
- Identify opportunities to improve product reliability, ease of installation, serviceability and customer experience.
- Maintain technical documentation, approved drawings, revision history, testing records and supplier quality records.
- Drive engineering improvements and product cost optimisation based on customer feedback and manufacturing learnings.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 7–12 years of relevant experience in product engineering, NPI, supplier development or manufacturing commercialisation.
- Solid preference for candidates from faucetware, sanitaryware, plumbing hardware, valves, brass components or precision metal products.
- Demonstrated experience taking physical products from engineering development through prototypes, validation and mass production.
- Practical understanding of brass and stainless-steel components, machining/casting processes, surface finishing and assembly.
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD, 2D drawings, GD&T;, BOMs and design-for-manufacturing principles.
- Experience in OEM/ODM management, vendor qualification, cost negotiation and production ramp-up.
- Familiarity with product reliability testing, quality systems, root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple products and suppliers simultaneously.

Why Join Lorazzo?

- Build a differentiated faucetware portfolio at a growing, design-first consumer brand.
- Work closely with the founders and influence product decisions from the earliest stages.
- Own the entire journey from engineering concept to products reaching customers' homes.
- Build and improve supplier ecosystems, product development processes and quality systems from the ground up.
- Make a tangible impact on product differentiation, customer experience and business growth.
