Role Description The Manager – Custom Clearance (CHA) is a full-time on-site role based in Mumbai, responsible for leading and overseeing all customs clearance operations. The role involves managing documentation, coordinating with customs authorities and related regulatory bodies, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws for import and export shipments. The manager will supervise the CHA team, allocate workloads, monitor performance, and resolve operational issues to ensure timely cargo clearance.

Daily tasks include reviewing declarations, handling customer queries, liaising with internal operations and external stakeholders, and continuously improving processes for efficiency and customer satisfaction. The role also involves reporting key metrics to senior management, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, and supporting audits and internal controls.





Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills and the ability to interpret customs regulations, documentation requirements, and shipment data.
- Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills to coordinate effectively with customs authorities, internal teams, and external partners.
- Candidates should possess Customer Service and Customer Experience skills to manage client expectations, handle escalations, and ensure a smooth clearance process.
- Candidates should possess Project Management skills to oversee multiple shipments, prioritize tasks, and meet strict timelines.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in customs clearance, preferably in a CHA managerial or supervisory role.
- G card Holder or equivalent certification, with thorough knowledge of Indian customs laws and procedures.
- Proven experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain operations, including import and export documentation.
- Ability to lead teams, implement process improvements, and work effectively in a quick-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office and customs/EDI software; familiarity with port and terminal processes is an advantage.
- Undergraduate degree in logistics, supply chain, commerce, or a related field; advanced certifications in logistics or international trade are beneficial.
