Position Title

Head – India Payroll Delivery

Location- Madurai/Chennai (100% Work from Office)

Reporting To Global Head of Payroll Operations

Role Purpose The Head of India Payroll Delivery will be responsible for leading end-to-end payroll operations and service delivery for India payroll clients, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, client satisfaction, scalability, and transformation of payroll delivery processes. The role will own delivery P&L;, client governance, operational efficiency, team capability development, automation adoption, and service quality.

This role is critical in building a best-in-class India payroll delivery organization capable of supporting enterprise customers with accuracy, compliance, and superior customer experience.

Required Experience

- 15+ years overall experience.
- 8+ years in India payroll operations leadership.
- Strong expertise in India payroll processing.
- Experience managing enterprise payroll clients.
- Experience handling large-scale payroll operations.
- Experience managing multi-location teams.
- Strong understanding of India labor laws and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End Payroll Delivery Leadership

- Own complete payroll processing operations for all India payroll clients.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing across monthly, weekly, and off-cycle payroll runs.
- Manage statutory compliance including: PF, ESI, PT, TDS, Gratuity, Bonus, Labor law, compliance
- State-specific statutory requirements
- Drive SLA adherence across all payroll operations.

2. Client Delivery Management

- Act as executive owner for India payroll delivery accounts.
- Build solid governance mechanisms with enterprise clients.
- Lead periodic business reviews with customers.




- Ensure high customer satisfaction and contract retention.
- Manage escalations and drive rapid issue resolution.

3. Operational Excellence

- Standardize payroll delivery processes across all accounts.
- Build scalable operational frameworks for growth.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Improve productivity across payroll operations teams.
- Reduce manual effort through workflow redesign.

4. Compliance & Risk Management

- Ensure complete statutory compliance for India payroll processing.
- Maintain audit readiness for all payroll processes.
- Build strong controls for data privacy and payroll confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with: Income Tax regulations, EPFO requirements, Labor compliance regulations, Data security standards, Drive internal audit compliance.

5. Team Leadership

- Lead large payroll operations teams including: Payroll Specialists, Payroll Managers, Quality Teams, Compliance Teams, Customer Success Teams
- Build leadership pipeline for payroll operations.
- Develop training and certification programs.
- Create high-performance delivery culture.

6. Delivery Transformation & Automation

- Drive automation across payroll operations.
- Identify opportunities for AI-led payroll operations transformation.
- Improve operational efficiency through: Workflow automation, Validation engines management systems, AI-based reconciliation
- Reduce dependency on manual intervention.

7. Financial Ownership

- Manage delivery profitability.
- Drive margin improvement initiatives.
- Optimize staffing and utilization.
- Manage operational budgets.

8. Stakeholder Management

Manage cross-functional collaboration with:

- Product teams, Implementation teams, Engineering teams, Compliance teams, Customer Success teams, Sales and Account Management teams
- Serve as senior escalation point for critical customer issues.
