Working closely with the Founder, the successful candidate will act as a senior operational leader, ensuring consistent service delivery, developing the procurement team, and supporting the organisation's next phase of growth.
This is not a traditional corporate procurement position. We are looking for someone comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial workplace, managing multiple stakeholders, resolving complex commercial issues, and delivering results without unnecessary bureaucracy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Client Leadership & Relationship Management
- Take end-to-end ownership of procurement service delivery for key enterprise clients, initially including the client.
- Act as the senior day-to-day procurement contact for client leadership teams, including CFOs, CTOs, Legal, Finance, and functional budget owners.
- Develop trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and establish the organisation as an integral part of each client's business.
- Lead regular client governance meetings, performance reviews, and executive steering committees.
- Ensure client commitments, service levels, and contractual deliverables are consistently achieved.
- Proactively identify opportunities to deliver additional value, expand services, and strengthen client retention.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex procurement, supplier, and stakeholder matters.
2. Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Delivery
- Lead high-value and complex procurement negotiations across technology, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, professional services, and corporate expenditure.
- Develop category sourcing strategies, procurement pipelines, and annual savings plans.
- Deliver measurable cost savings, cost avoidance, and improvements in supplier commercial terms.
- Oversee supplier tenders, competitive benchmarking, contract renewals, and supplier consolidation initiatives.
- Challenge business requirements and identify opportunities to optimise demand, licensing, consumption, and supplier expenditure.
- Work closely with client Finance teams to validate and report realised financial benefits.
- Provide direct negotiation support on strategically important supplier agreements.
3. Procurement Operations & Governance
- Oversee day-to-day procurement operations across assigned enterprise clients.
- Ensure effective intake management, sourcing execution, purchase order controls, approval workflows, and contract lifecycle management.
- Establish and maintain procurement policies, standard operating procedures, and delegated authorities.
- Work collaboratively with Legal, Information Security, Finance, and IT to embed appropriate supplier due diligence and risk controls.
- Improve procurement service levels, stakeholder experience, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain clear accountability for procurement requests, supplier renewals,
risk assessments, and contract negotiations.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process simplification, automation, and continuous improvement.
4. Team Leadership & Business Continuity
- Lead and develop the procurement team.
- Allocate workloads, monitor performance, and ensure appropriate resource coverage across client accounts.
- Provide coaching, quality assurance, and hands-on support for complex negotiations and sourcing projects.
- Establish consistent delivery standards, reporting, and operating procedures.
- Act as the designated senior deputy to the Founder for enterprise client delivery.
- Provide leadership and continuity during periods of absence, escalation, or unexpected operational disruption.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of additional procurement resources as the business grows.
5. Technology, AI & Procurement Transformation
- Champion the adoption of the organisation's procurement technology platform across client engagements.
- Identify opportunities to automate procurement intake, supplier evaluation, contract review, benchmarking, and risk management.
- Work with the technology team to translate client requirements into platform improvements.
- Use procurement analytics and AI-enabled insights to identify savings opportunities and improve decision-making.
- Help develop repeatable, technology-enabled delivery models that support business growth without proportionate increases in headcount.
6. Business Growth & Commercial Development
- Support the Founder in expanding existing enterprise accounts and developing current client opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for additional procurement services, transformation projects, and technology adoption.
- Participate in client proposals, presentations, procurement assessments, and commercial discussions.
- Help develop the enterprise delivery proposition, pricing models, and service standards.
- Contribute to the development of scalable operating models, reusable methodologies, and best-practice procurement frameworks.
- Support client retention, account profitability, and sustainable business growth.
Experience & QualificationsEssential
- 10+ years of procurement experience, including significant senior leadership responsibility.
- Proven experience managing procurement across complex international organisations.
- Strong strategic sourcing and supplier negotiation experience, particularly within technology, SaaS, IT services, and indirect expenditure.
- Demonstrable track record of delivering substantial, independently validated procurement savings.
- Experience managing senior client stakeholders, including CFOs, CTOs, CPOs, and Legal leadership.
- Strong understanding of procurement operations, governance, supplier risk management, and contract lifecycle management.
- Experience leading teams and managing multiple concurrent procurement initiatives.
- Ability to operate independently, make sound commercial decisions, and resolve complex issues.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to connect procurement outcomes to business performance.
Desirable
- Experience within a procurement consultancy, managed services provider, or outsourced procurement environment.
- Experience supporting private equity-backed, technology, or professional services organisations.
- Experience leading global procurement programmes across the UK, US, and Asia.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled procurement platforms, workflow automation, and procurement analytics.
- Experience designing or scaling procurement operating models.
