Role purposeThe Architect turns approved design intent into accurate, buildable Good For Construction (GFC) drawings that site teams and vendors can execute without ambiguity. The role sits between design, procurement and execution, so drawings must be coordinated, detailed and issued on schedule for turnkey hospitality, retail, commercial and healthcare projects.
Key responsibilitiesGFC drawings and detailing
- Prepare complete GFC drawing sets from approved concept and design-development drawings: layouts, reflected ceiling plans, flooring, elevations, sections and wall finishes.
- Develop construction details for joinery, partitions, false ceilings, flooring transitions, toilets, staircases and façade or shopfront elements.
- Prepare door and window schedules, finish schedules and material legends that tie drawings to the BOQ.
- Issue drawings with transparent revision control, drawing registers and transmittals.
Coordination
- Coordinate architectural and interior drawings with MEP, HVAC, fire-fighting, structural and lighting consultants; resolve clashes before issue.
- Work with procurement to align specifications, finishes and product selections with what is being sourced.
- Check drawings against brand standards for hospitality and retail clients, and against NBC, local bye-laws and fire norms.
Site support
- Visit sites to verify dimensions, conduct site surveys and resolve execution queries.
- Respond to RFIs from site teams and contractors with sketches or revised details within agreed timelines.
- Review and approve shop drawings and mock-ups from vendors and sub-contractors.
- Prepare as-built drawings at project close-out.
Quantities and documentation
- Support quantity take-offs and BOQ preparation from GFC drawings.
- Maintain project drawing records and handover documentation.
RequirementsMust have
- B.Arch from a recognised institute; CoA registration.
- 3–7 years of experience, with at least 2 years producing GFC drawing sets that were built on site.
- Strong AutoCAD drafting and detailing skills, with a clear grasp of materials, finishes and construction methods.
- Working knowledge of MEP and services coordination.
- Familiarity with NBC, Mumbai DCPR / local bye-laws and fire norms.
- Comfortable working across several projects with fixed deadlines and making regular site visits in and around Mumbai.
Good to have
- Experience on hospitality, retail, corporate office or healthcare fit-outs, ideally with a turnkey or design-and-build firm.
- Revit / BIM, SketchUp and Photoshop; exposure to Navisworks for clash detection.
- Experience with international brand standards (hotel or retail chains).
- Basic quantity estimation and BOQ skills.
