Key Responsibilities

- Manage daily operations of commercial vehicles, including trucks, lorries, and other goods vehicles.
- Plan and coordinate vehicle allocation for material movement, customer deliveries, and inter-plant transportation.
- Ensure timely pickup and delivery of raw materials, finished goods, and other materials.
- Monitor fleet utilization, vehicle availability, fuel consumption, and transportation costs.
- Coordinate with drivers, transport contractors, logistics teams, stores, production, and dispatch departments.
- Ensure preventive maintenance like servicing, fitness certificates, insurance, permits, and pollution certificates are up to date.
- Monitor driver attendance, performance, safety compliance, and adherence to traffic regulations.
- Maintain vehicle documents, trip sheets, fuel records, delivery challans, and transportation expense reports.
- Handle vehicle breakdowns, delivery delays, customer escalations, and other transportation-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Motor Vehicles Act requirements, road safety rules, and transportation regulations.
- Negotiate with transport vendors and monitor their service quality and delivery performance.
- Prepare periodic reports on fleet performance, fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, and on-time delivery.

Required Skills





- Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle fleet management and transportation operations.
- Experience in manufacturing logistics and goods transportation.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, fuel management, route planning, and transport documentation.
- Positive coordination, negotiation, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and transport management systems.
- Ability to manage drivers, transport vendors, and multiple vehicle movements efficiently.

Preferred Experience

- Experience handling a commercial vehicle fleet in a manufacturing company.
- Knowledge of logistics planning, dispatch operations, fleet cost control, and statutory vehicle documentation.

- On-time delivery percentage.
- Vehicle utilization rate.
- Transportation cost per trip / per kilometre.
- Fuel consumption and mileage efficiency.
- Vehicle breakdown frequency and maintenance cost.
- Compliance with vehicle documentation and safety requirements.
