Function:
EDRC (Engineering, Design & Research Centre)
Location: Bengaluru (HQ); travel as required for pre-bid meetings and site visits
Experience:
4-10 years
Reports to: Head, EDRC
Purpose:-
The person will handle the full bid process for EDRC, from spotting a tender to final submission and follow-up until the order is received. The work covers design and consultancy packages in signalling for Indian Railways, metros, private clients and international projects. The aim is to bid regularly, bid well, and win a fair share of the orders.
Along with this, the person is expected to find new design work before it comes out as a tender. This means tracking where the demand for design work is, and where the design capacity of the larger contractors and the railways own design offices falls short, and then presenting our design capability to the right clients and partners.
Key responsibilities
- Check IREPS, metro and PSU tender portals daily for recent design, survey and consultancy works
- Keep a live list of design demand by railway zone, package and client, and compare it with the design capacity available with the major contractors and the railways own design offices; use this to decide which opportunities to chase and whom to approach
- Meet zone design organisation heads, well before tenders are floated
- Present EDRCs design capability to clients and to the larger EPC contractors who need design support, and set up teaming or work agreement documents where required
- Attend pre-bid meetings and represent EDRC there
- Prepare the bids:
study the tender document, prepare the compliance list, BOQ and estimates, and write the technical proposal with the design leads
- Keep registrations, past work records and client references up to date for empanelment and pre-qualification
- Maintain the bid pipeline and report every month on what is in hand, what has been submitted, and what we won or lost
- Hand over every won order to the EDRC delivery team with clear scope notes and client expectations
Qualification:-
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
Experience and skills
- 4 to 10 years of bidding experience in railway, metro or EPC companies
- Good knowledge of Indian Railways tendering practice, RDSO specifications and the e-procurement process
- Metro Signaling Design bid experience is a plus
- Comfortable with MS Office; experience with estimating tools or ERP systems is helpful
- Careful and organised, able to work to tight deadlines
- Good written English, and ability to coordinate across teams
