Job Description: Power Electronics Design Intern

Company: Alloy Charge Technologies LLP

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka

About Alloy Charge Technologies

Alloy Charge Technologies is a product engineering startup developing advanced power electronics and energy storage solutions for residential and off-grid applications. Our product portfolio includes solar charge controllers, off-grid inverters, and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery systems.

We are looking for a motivated Power Electronics Design Intern to work alongside our engineering team on the design, development, testing, and validation of next-generation power conversion products.

Role Overview

The intern will gain hands-on experience in power electronics hardware development, from circuit design and component selection to prototype testing and debugging. The role involves working on real products, including DC-DC converters, solar MPPT charge controllers, DC-AC inverters, and battery power systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in the design and development of power electronic circuits and converter topologies.
- Support the development and testing of DC-DC converters, buck converters, boost converters, and DC-AC inverters.
- Perform component selection and calculations for inductors, transformers, MOSFETs, IGBTs, capacitors, and gate drivers.
- Assist with schematic capture, PCB design, and hardware documentation.
- Build prototypes and perform laboratory testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic loads, and power supplies.
- Debug hardware issues related to switching waveforms, control loops,

efficiency, thermal performance, and electromagnetic interference (EMI).
- Support testing and validation of solar charge controllers, MPPT systems, inverter hardware, and LFP battery interfaces.
- Analyse test results, document observations, and prepare engineering reports.
- Work closely with the firmware and mechanical engineering teams to integrate and validate complete products.

Educational Qualifications:

- Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), POwer Electronics, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
- Candidates who have recently graduated or are in the final year of their engineering degree may apply.
- A strong academic foundation in power electronics, electrical circuits, and electronic devices is essential.

Technical Skills:

- Basic understanding of power electronics and switching converters.
- Knowledge of MOSFETs, diodes, inductors, capacitors, and semiconductor switching devices.
- Understanding of PWM, switching frequency, duty cycle, and converter efficiency.
- Familiarity with electrical circuit analysis and basic electronic measurements.

- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and datasheets.
- Basic knowledge of C programming or embedded systems is an advantage.
- Familiarity with PCB design tools such as KiCad, Altium Designer, or equivalent is desirable.

Preferred Attributes:

- Solid interest in power electronics, renewable energy, and energy storage.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A hands-on approach to engineering and hardware debugging.
- Willingness to learn, experiment, and work with physical prototypes.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small engineering team.
- Attention to detail and a disciplined approach to testing and documentation.

What You Will Gain:

- Practical experience in developing commercial power electronics products.
- Exposure to solar MPPT charge controllers, off-grid inverters, and LFP battery systems.
- Hands-on experience with power converter testing, debugging, and performance validation.
- Opportunity to work on real engineering challenges involving efficiency, thermal design, switching behaviour, and reliability.
- Mentorship from experienced product design engineers.
- An opportunity to contribute directly to products progressing through development and validation.

Application

Interested candidates may submit their resume along with a brief description of their academic projects, particularly those involving power electronics, embedded systems, electrical machines, or circuit design.
