Job Description: 3D Printing Designer (Creality & Bambu Lab)

About the Role Northern Atlantic is looking for a 3D Printing Designer to design, prototype, and produce high-quality printed parts and products. You’ll work across our Creality and Bambu Lab printer fleet and take each project from concept and CAD modeling through slicing, printing, finishing, and quality checks. The right person enjoys solving design problems, knows FDM printing well, and cares about how the finished part looks and works.

- Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and model original parts, products, and prototypes in CAD software built for 3D printing.
- Prepare and tune print files in Bambu Studio, Creality Print, OrcaSlicer, and Cura.
- Run, monitor, and maintain Creality printers (Ender, K1, K2 series, etc.) and Bambu Lab printers (X1, P1, A1 series, etc.), including the AMS multi-color system.
- Choose the right materials for each job (PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, nylon, composites) based on strength, flexibility, heat resistance, and finish.
- Fix print problems such as warping, stringing, layer shifts, adhesion failures, and clogs.
- Do routine printer maintenance: calibration, nozzle changes, belt tensioning, firmware updates, and bed leveling.
- Finish parts as needed: support removal, sanding, priming, painting, and assembly.
- Build designs for manufacturability by minimizing supports, optimizing orientation, and reducing print time and material waste.
- Keep organized records of designs, print profiles, settings, and production logs.




- Work with clients and team members to turn ideas, sketches, or reference images into printable designs.
- Manage print queues and production schedules to meet deadlines.
- Required Qualifications2+ years of hands-on 3D printing experience, preferably with both Creality and Bambu Lab machines.
- Proficiency in at least one CAD program: Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Onshape, Tinkercad, Blender, or similar.
- Strong working knowledge of slicer software and print settings.
- Solid understanding of FDM printing principles, tolerances, and design-for-print best practices.
- Ability to diagnose and repair common printer hardware and software issues.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Good communication and time-management skills.
- Preferred QualificationsExperience with multi-color and multi-material printing using the Bambu Lab AMS.
- Familiarity with resin (SLA/MSLA) printing.
- Experience with 3D scanning and reverse engineering.
- Experience designing products for online sale (Etsy, Amazon, Shopify) or for model marketplaces such as MakerWorld, Printables, or Thingiverse.
- Background in product design, mechanical engineering, industrial design, or a related field.
- A portfolio of original 3D printed designs.
- Access to a up-to-date printer fleet and the latest materials
