We are looking for a MERN Stack Developer who can take ownership of features across the frontend, backend and database layers and help us deliver reliable, production-ready software.

About the Role

You will build and maintain full-stack web applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React.js and Node.js.

You will work closely with our project managers, designers and engineering team to develop new features, integrate external services, improve existing applications and resolve technical issues across multiple client and product projects.

We value developers who understand business requirements, write maintainable code, communicate clearly and can independently take a feature from implementation through testing and deployment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Frontend Development — React.js

- Build responsive and interactive web applications using React.js.
- Develop reusable components, dashboards, forms, tables and complex business workflows.
- Implement designs with attention to usability, responsiveness, accessibility and performance.
- Manage application state, routing, form validation and API integration.
- Debug frontend issues and optimise application performance.
- Work with modern JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML and CSS.

2. Backend Development — Node.js & Express.js

- Develop REST APIs and backend services using Node.js and Express.js.
- Implement business logic, authentication, authorisation and role-based access control.
- Build secure, maintainable and well-structured backend applications.
- Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, messaging services and external business systems.
- Implement file uploads, notifications, background processing and scheduled jobs where required.
- Handle validation, errors, logging, rate limiting and other production concerns.
- Write API documentation and support frontend/backend integration.

3. Database Development — MongoDB

- Design MongoDB collections, schemas, relationships and indexes.
- Implement efficient CRUD operations, aggregations and data retrieval workflows.
- Use Mongoose or the appropriate MongoDB driver.
- Optimise queries and investigate database performance issues.
- Implement pagination, filtering, sorting and search.




- Maintain data consistency and handle migrations or schema changes safely.
- Understand embedding versus referencing and choose appropriate data models for the use case.

4. Application Security & Performance

- Implement secure authentication and session or token management.
- Apply appropriate access controls and protect sensitive information.
- Follow secure coding practices for APIs and database operations.
- Prevent common web vulnerabilities, including injection, cross-site scripting and insecure access control.
- Optimise API response times, database queries and frontend rendering.
- Use caching, pagination and asynchronous processing where appropriate.

5. Integrations & Business Applications

- Integrate payment gateways such as Razorpay.
- Develop notification workflows using email, SMS and WhatsApp providers.
- Implement webhooks, external API integrations, imports and exports.
- Build admin panels, reporting dashboards and operational management systems.
- Work on multi-user, role-based applications and multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
- Contribute to AI-enabled features and LLM integrations where relevant.

6. Testing, Deployment & Maintenance

- Write unit and integration tests for critical application functionality.
- Debug issues across frontend, backend, APIs and databases.
- Use Git effectively for branching, pull requests and code reviews.
- Deploy and maintain applications on platforms such as Vercel and suitable cloud infrastructure.
- Understand environment variables, build processes, logs and production troubleshooting.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
- Document setup instructions, API behaviour and important technical decisions.

7. Project Ownership

- Convert requirements into manageable development tasks.
- Estimate implementation effort and communicate risks early.
- Collaborate with project managers, QA engineers, designers and other developers.
- Maintain code quality while working within delivery timelines.
- Take ownership of assigned features from requirements to release.
- Work across multiple projects while respecting agreed priorities.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and ES6+.
- Practical experience with MongoDB, Express.js, React.js and Node.js.
- Strong understanding of REST API development and integration.




- Experience with React hooks, component architecture and state management.
- Knowledge of database design, indexing, aggregation and query optimisation.
- Understanding of authentication, authorisation and web application security.
- Experience with Git, debugging, testing and production deployment.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous JavaScript, promises and error handling.
- Ability to write clean, reusable and maintainable code.

Preferred Skills

- TypeScript.
- Next.js.
- Redux Toolkit, Zustand or comparable state management tools.
- Socket.IO or other real-time communication technologies.
- Redis, queues and background workers.
- Docker and CI/CD.
- React Native.
- Razorpay and other payment gateway integrations.
- AI APIs and LLM-based application features.
- Experience building SaaS platforms, ERP systems, CRM applications, POS systems or other business software.

What We're Looking For We want an engineer who can think beyond individual components and understand how an entire application works.

You should be comfortable designing a MongoDB data model, building the Express API, implementing the React interface, integrating the pieces, testing the result and helping deploy it to production.

You should be able to debug unfamiliar codebases, ask the right questions when requirements are unclear and take responsibility for the quality of your work.

We value practical engineering ability, problem-solving, ownership and communication more than the number of technologies listed on a CV.

First 90 Days

First 30 days

- Understand GTW's development standards and active projects.
- Set up development environments and become familiar with existing codebases.
- Resolve bugs and deliver well-scoped features.

Days 31–60

- Independently implement features across React, Express, Node.js and MongoDB.
- Integrate external services and contribute to testing and deployments.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.

Days 61–90

- Deliver complete, appropriately scoped features from requirements through deployment.
- Demonstrate reliable estimation, debugging and communication.
- Identify improvements to application performance, reliability and maintainability.
