Electrical Design & Project Engineer – Industrial Infrastructure
Location: IMT Rohtak, Haryana
Employment: Full-time | On-site
Compensation: ₹25,000–₹55,000 per month, depending on relevant experience and demonstrated capability.
About the Role
We are looking for a technically strong, hands-on engineer to join our team for the final engineering, execution and commissioning stage of our industrial infrastructure.
The role focuses on the design, implementation, commissioning, maintenance and long-term performance of the facility's electrical infrastructure. We are looking for someone who can independently develop electrical designs, perform engineering calculations, evaluate equipment and vendor proposals, resolve technical issues and ensure reliable operation of installed systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Design and Engineering: Primary Responsibility
- Develop electrical engineering calculations, designs, specifications, drawings and equipment selections.
- Prepare electrical load assessments, load schedules, single-line diagrams (SLDs), cable sizing, voltage-drop calculations, fault-level assessments and protection requirements.
- Evaluate transformer capacity, HT/LT distribution architecture, switchgear, protection devices, cable systems and distribution arrangements.
- Design and review electrical layouts, cable routing, cable trays, bus ducts, distribution boards and equipment power requirements.
- Assess earthing, lightning protection, power-factor correction, electrical safety and power-quality requirements.
- Prepare BOQs, technical specifications, equipment schedules and engineering documentation.
2. Electrical Infrastructure and Equipment Work across the design, implementation and operation of relevant systems, including:
- HT/LT panels, switchgear, PCC/MCC panels and distribution boards.
- Transformers, DG sets, AMF/ATS arrangements and associated changeover systems.
- UPS systems and power supplies for critical equipment.
- Cables, bus ducts, cable trays, protective relays and electrical metering.
- Earthing, lightning protection, emergency lighting and electrical safety systems.
3. Site Implementation and Project Execution
- Translate approved electrical designs into practical installation requirements.
- Inspect installations and verify compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with electrical contractors, equipment suppliers, consultants and other engineering disciplines.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Monitor installation quality, testing readiness and technical documentation.
4. Testing and Commissioning: Primary Responsibility
- Prepare or review inspection, testing and commissioning procedures.
- Coordinate testing of panels, transformers, cables, protection systems, earthing and other electrical equipment.
- Review test reports and verify equipment operation and protective functions.
- Support factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), where applicable.
- Maintain commissioning records, equipment documentation, as-built drawings and handover records.
5. Maintenance and Long-Term Reliability: Primary Responsibility
- Establish preventive and condition-based maintenance requirements.
- Develop maintenance schedules, inspection checklists, equipment records and critical-spares requirements.
- Investigate electrical faults, recurring failures, protection trips and power-quality issues.
- Improve electrical reliability, energy efficiency, safety and maintainability.
- Support equipment upgrades, modifications and future facility expansion.
6. Controls and Related Systems Coordination
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with BMS/IBMS, automation and monitoring systems.
- Support integration with relevant ELV systems, including access control, CCTV, fire-alarm interfaces and other low-current infrastructure.
- Coordinate power requirements and interfaces with HVAC, manufacturing machinery and mechanical utilities.
7. Safety and Compliance
- Ensure designs and installations are evaluated against applicable electrical safety regulations, relevant Indian standards and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with appropriately authorised electrical contractors, inspectors and utility providers where required.
- Ensure that testing, commissioning and maintenance activities follow appropriate safety procedures and isolation requirements.
Qualifications
- Master/B.E./B.Tech/PHD or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Relevant hands-on experience preferred; stronger experience in industrial electrical design and project execution is an advantage.
- Robust understanding of electrical power distribution, HT/LT systems, switchgear, transformers, DG sets and protection systems.
- Ability to independently develop electrical calculations, SLDs, cable schedules, drawings and technical specifications.
Ideal Candidate Background
Candidates who have developed their technical expertise within:
- Industrial electrical design consultancies.
- Electrical EPC and engineering contractors.
- Electrical switchgear, panel and equipment manufacturers.
- Power distribution and electrical system integrators.
- Industrial construction, manufacturing or infrastructure projects.
- Electrical commissioning, testing and technical engineering teams.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical fundamentals with practical project experience and the ability to evaluate competing technical proposals objectively.
Application Requirements
- Please include 2–3 relevant projects in your CV, specifying electrical systems handled.
- Your personal responsibility for design, execution and commissioning.
- Any relevant experience with HT-LT panel, generator, security control or BMS/IBMS integration etc.
Applications based primarily on routine maintenance, electrician supervision, sales or contractor coordination without substantive engineering design experience will not be suitable.
This is a full-time, on-site position at IMT Rohtak, Haryana. Candidates who can join immediately or within a short notice period will be preferred.
