​Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Materials Engineer to oversee raw material characterization, body formulation, and thermal processing (drying and kiln firing). You will be responsible for minimizing production defects (cracking, warping, efflorescence), optimizing moisture removal profiles in our industrial dryers, and refining kiln thermal curves to achieve maximum mechanical strength and consistent aesthetic quality.
​Key Responsibilities
​Material Formulation & Testing: Analyze raw clay compositions, plastic behavior, and moisture retention to optimize body mix recipes.
​Thermal Process Optimization: Monitor and fine-tune temperature/humidity profiles in industrial dryers and firing curves in continuous/tunnel kilns.
​Defect Minimization: Identify root causes of drying shrinkage, thermal shock cracking, warpage, and color variations; implement immediate corrective actions.
​Quality & R&D;: Conduct standard laboratory testing (modulus of rupture, water absorption, fired density,



particle size distribution) to ensure compliance with industry standards.
​Process Improvement: Collaborate with the production team to reduce fuel consumption in kilns/dryers while improving yield rates.
​Required Qualifications & Skills
​Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering, Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering.
​Experience: 3+ years of practical experience in heavy clay, structural ceramics, or tile manufacturing environments.
​Technical Expertise:
​In-depth understanding of clay mineralogy, extrusion/molding properties, and plasticity.
​Direct experience operating and troubleshooting industrial ceramic dryers and high-temperature kilns.
​Proficiency in thermal analysis (TGA/DTA) and physical/mechanical testing of green and fired body units.
​Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, analytical mindset, and ability to work on the shop floor alongside plant operators.
