Engagement: Full-time, remote (independent contractor)
Compensation: INR 35,000/month base + performance bonus
Hours: Approx. 06:00–16:00 IST, Monday to Friday
Reports to: Senior Editor (direct, daily)
About the role
We are a Singapore-headquartered investment research firm producing macro and equity research. Together with a US partner, we are launching an Asian markets newsflow service: live, curated, real-time coverage of Asia-Pacific equities, economic and macro events, distributed to retail and professional clients.
The person we hire will be the live engine of this product. During Asia trading hours, you will scan the tape, filter the noise, and publish short, sharp, time-stamped updates that traders and portfolio managers can act on within seconds. The output is fast, factual, well-formatted newsflow with just enough context to be useful at the screen, sourced from the tools and platforms we provide.
What you will do, every day
Live curation (the core of the job)
- Monitor primary news sources across India, Japan, ASEAN (Singapore, Indonesia) and Greater China (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen), covering listed companies and key economic and macro releases, depending on your assigned market focus.
- Publish short updates per shift in the agreed format: timestamp, ticker or instrument, one-sentence headline, and a few lines of context where it adds value.
- Prioritise what moves markets: earnings surprises, regulatory actions, central bank decisions, large block trades and sector-moving headlines. Leave out the noise.
- Cross-check newswires, exchange filings (HKEX, SGX, NSE/BSE, TSE), regulator releases (MAS, BoJ, RBI, PBoC, etc.) and reputable local-language sources, depending on the assigned region.
Scheduled deliverables
- Asia Pre-Open (06:30 IST): overnight US handover, key Asia events on the day, scheduled data and earnings.
- Asia Midday Wrap (12:30 IST): morning movers, sector rotation, intraday news of consequence.
- Asia Close (15:45 IST): index closes, top movers with attributed reasons, what to watch.
Standards and quality control
- The Senior Editor sets templates, examples and editorial standards. You follow them precisely, every day, without drift.
- All output is in clean, skilled English, free of AI-generated phrasing, filler, marketing language and personal opinion.
- Source every non-obvious claim. Never copy text verbatim from a wire or filing; paraphrase tightly.
Must-have requirements
- Markets fluency. You already understand what a P/E, a yield curve, a credit spread, an earnings surprise and a central bank decision are, and why a trader cares. We will not teach this from scratch.
- Asia-Pacific market knowledge. Working familiarity with at least one of: Indian equities (Nifty, Sensex), Greater China (HSI, CSI 300, A-shares vs H-shares), Japanese equities (Nikkei, TOPIX), ASEAN equities, regional economics.
- Professional written English. Crisp, accurate, neutral, fast. Closer to Reuters or Bloomberg style than to retail blogging. We will test this.
- Speed and discipline. Comfortable publishing short updates per shift with zero careless errors. Tickers and numbers must be right every time. The work is routine by design and rewards genuine interest in markets, high standards and personal reliability.
- Reliable infrastructure. Stable broadband, a dedicated quiet workspace, a modern laptop, and the ability to start your shift on time every trading day.
- Education. Bachelor’s degree minimum, ideally in finance, economics, accounting, business or a quantitative discipline. CFA candidates or charterholders preferred but not required.
- Tools. Comfortable with Excel, Slack, Google Workspace and standard news-aggregation interfaces. Experience with Bloomberg,
Refinitiv, FactSet or similar is a robust plus.
Strong pluses
- Prior experience as a sell-side or buy-side analyst, newswire reporter or trading desk assistant.
- Reading proficiency in Hindi, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bahasa Indonesia or Japanese for monitoring local-language sources.
- Practical experience using AI tools in a research or news workflow.
- Familiarity with institutional trading or market data platforms.
What this role is not
- Not investment advice. We never tell readers what to buy or sell. We report facts and frame context.
- Not long-form research. Your focus is newsflow and the live tape.
- Not sales. You will not pitch clients or speak with subscribers.
Selection process
- Step 1: Application. CV plus a short note (max 200 words) on which Asian markets you follow most closely and why.
- Step 2: Written test (paid, ~2 hours). We send you a one-hour window of raw Asia trading-hours newsflow and you produce 30 curated updates in our format. This is the single most important filter.
- Step 3: Live trial day (paid). A half shift producing real output, reviewed in real time by the Senior Editor.
- Step 4: Offer and 90-day probation. Performance reviews on days 30, 60 and 90.
Compensation and growth
- INR 35,000/month base, paid monthly.
- Performance bonus tied to update volume, accuracy and editor revisions.
- Annual review with a clear progression path: Curator, Senior Curator, Editor.
- All training, templates, source lists and tooling provided.
How to apply
Apply through Indeed with:
- CV (PDF, max 2 pages).
- Short note (max 200 words), as described in Step 1.
- One example of your own written work in English on a financial topic, such as a blog post, internship report, university paper, sample wire-style update, or anything comparable.
We respond to every applicant within 7 days. Suitable candidates proceed directly to the written test.
