Job Description – Safety Officer (PSU Projects)

Industry: PSU / Thermal Power Plant / Industrial Projects
Job Location: Project Site (As per project requirement)
Department: Safety / EHS
Experience: 3–5 Years
Qualification: B.Sc. / Diploma / B.Tech. in a relevant discipline with ADIS / PDIS / recognized industrial safety qualification, as required by the project.

Job Responsibilities

- Ensure compliance with site safety rules, PSU guidelines, and applicable statutory safety regulations.
- Conduct daily site inspections to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards.
- Monitor safety during electrical erection, cable laying, equipment installation, commissioning, and other industrial activities.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness sessions for workers and supervisors.
- Ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all site personnel.
- Prepare and verify Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessment, and Permit to Work (PTW) documents.
- Monitor work at height, hot work, confined spaces, lifting operations, and electrical work.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents and recommend corrective and preventive actions.




- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, training records, and statutory documentation.
- Coordinate with the client, project management team, contractors, and site supervisors during safety audits and inspections.
- Ensure implementation of emergency response procedures, fire safety measures, and housekeeping standards.
- Report safety violations and follow up on corrective actions.

Required Skills

- Knowledge of industrial safety practices and PSU project safety procedures.
- Experience in thermal power plants, electrical projects, or industrial construction sites.
- Positive communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage workers and enforce safety standards at project sites.

Preferred Candidate

Candidates with experience in BHEL, NTPC, SAIL, or other PSU/thermal power plant projects will be preferred.
