Hotel Mahi’s Gateway, a 39-room hotel with Shooters Bar, is looking for an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager to oversee daily operations and strengthen service standards, staff discipline and accountability.

We need someone who takes ownership, leads by example and follows through until issues are resolved. The role reports directly to management and requires an active presence across departments.
Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations and Guest Service

- Oversee front office, housekeeping, maintenance, security and bar operations.
- Ensure rooms are clean, properly maintained and ready before guest arrival.
- Monitor reservations, check-ins, check-outs, room allocation and shift handovers.
- Handle guest complaints professionally and ensure timely resolution.
- Coordinate guest breakfast and room-service arrangements with the food provider.

Staff Management and Discipline

- Plan duty rosters, weekly offs and leave coverage to maintain adequate staffing.
- Monitor attendance, grooming, punctuality and work performance.
- Conduct daily briefings and assign clear responsibilities to each department.
- Train staff, implement practical SOPs and follow up on compliance.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and performance reviews.

Cash, Billing and Operational Controls

- Verify that every reservation, occupied room, guest charge and payment is correctly recorded in the PMS.




- Cross-check PMS room status against housekeeping’s physical room-status report.
- Review daily collections and shift handovers with reception and accounts; investigate and report discrepancies promptly.
- Ensure discounts, refunds, cancellations, complimentary stays and credit arrangements follow management approval procedures.
- Maintain individual staff accountability and accurate supporting records.

Stock, Maintenance and Cost Control

- Monitor bar stock, linen, housekeeping supplies and operating consumables.
- Coordinate stock checks with stores and accounts, and investigate shortages or unusual consumption.
- Verify purchase requirements and receipt of goods through the approved process.
- Follow up on maintenance complaints and preventive maintenance.
- Control wastage and unnecessary expenditure while maintaining service quality.

Reporting and Follow-up

- Submit a concise daily report covering occupancy, collections, pending payments, complaints, maintenance issues and staff concerns.
- Maintain an action list with responsible staff members and completion deadlines.
- Escalate serious incidents promptly and keep management informed.
- Work with reception and marketing to improve occupancy, guest satisfaction and repeat business.

Candidate Requirements





- Minimum 5 years of hotel operations experience, including at least 2 years in an Operations Manager, Assistant Operations Manager or comparable supervisory role.
- Experience managing a similar-sized hotel; exposure to bar operations is an advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of front office, housekeeping, maintenance and daily cash controls.
- Comfortable using hotel PMS software, POS systems, Excel and operational reports. Experience with Microgenn and Petpooja is an advantage.
- Proven ability to lead teams, train staff and introduce consistent working procedures.
- Clear communication in Tamil and English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Diploma or degree in Hotel Management preferred. Candidates with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, weekends and public holidays according to operational requirements.

A trustworthy, organised and firm but fair manager who is comfortable working on the floor, addressing problems directly and maintaining clear records. You should be able to demonstrate improvements you have made in guest service, staff performance, cost control or operational accountability.
