The role exists to own the purchasing configuration governing what may be bought, from which supplier, at which price and under whose approval. Delivery quality is personal at this level. Performance is assessed on configuration that holds under integration test, on defect recurrence, and on documentation complete enough for another engineer to assume ownership. Responsibilities:
Scope & Decision Rights: Execute within an approved design. You determine how a configuration item is built, tested and documented design changes, scope calls and estimates are escalated to the workstream lead. Purchasing Document Configuration: Configure purchase requisition and purchase order document types, number ranges, field selection, account assignment categories and item categories. Release Strategy & Workflow: Configure release strategies and flexible workflow for requisitions and purchase orders, including the approval matrix and its maintenance model. Source Determination: Configure source lists, quota arrangements, outline agreements and info records so that sourcing decisions are automated where they should be and controlled where they must be. Purchasing Pricing & Output: Configure the condition technique for purchasing pricing and own purchase order output and form determination. Integration & Dependencies: Work with Inventory Management for goods receipt behaviour, with Finance for invoice verification and account determination, and with Master Data for material and vendor master quality. Inventory Management is owned by the Supply chain and logistics tower. Delivery Execution & Quality: Deliver assigned configuration, build and test items against sprint commitments, with configuration rationale, unit test evidence and cutover steps documented to handover standard. Defect Diagnosis & Resolution: Investigate defects and incidents affecting approval workflows failing or purchase orders blocking at volume during a go-live,



isolating root cause across configuration, master data and interface layers and confirming resolution through regression. AI-Assisted Engineering & Joule: Apply AI assistants to analyse release strategy and source determination configuration, generate purchasing test scenarios and interpret workflow logs, validating every generated output against system behaviour before transport. Use SAP Joule for Consultants for configuration guidance and troubleshooting, and flag manual steps in the module that are candidates for a Joule agent. Knowledge Transfer: Document reusable configuration patterns, support analysts joining the workstream, and escalate blockers promptly. Collaboration: Work with functional leads, test teams and downstream modules, reporting item status in terms of delivery impact. Professional & Technical
