We are Siemens Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our software. Siemens Digital Industries Software is looking for a Software QA Engineer to join our Shared Engineering Services team, supporting the quality and reliability of our Simcenter™ and HyperMesh engineering software portfolio. In this role, you will validate desktop-based CAE applications and engineering workflows across multiple platforms, combining engineering domain knowledge with software testing and automation. You will design and execute test scenarios, develop automation scripts, investigate complex defects, and contribute to performance and stress testing. You will collaborate with development, product management, and application engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-quality software while exploring AI-assisted testing and continuous improvement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
• Validate engineering software: Design and execute functional, integration, regression, stress, and performance tests for CAE applications, with a focus on HyperMesh functionality and engineering workflows.
• Test engineering workflows: Develop comprehensive test scenarios covering pre-processing, post-processing, design validation, and verification to ensure software behavior meets engineering requirements.
• Develop test automation: Create, maintain, and enhance automated tests using Python or Tcl/Tk and frameworks such as Pytest, Ranorex, Selenium, or similar tools.
• Investigate and resolve defects: Analyze test failures, logs, and application behavior to identify root causes, document reproducible defects, and verify fixes.
• Improve testing efficiency:
Identify opportunities for automation, reuse existing test assets, port automated tests to high-performance systems, and explore AI-assisted testing approaches.
• Champion quality throughout development: Review requirements, user stories, and design documents to improve testability, coverage, and early defect detection.
• Collaborate across teams: Work with QA, development, DevOps, product management, and application engineering teams to improve product quality and testing practices across supported platforms. Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• 2–3 years of relevant technical experience in CAE or engineering software, with hands-on exposure to engineering tools and design validation or verification workflows.
• Practical knowledge of CAE pre-processing and/or post-processing workflows, preferably using HyperMesh or similar engineering applications.
• Strong scripting skills in Python or Tcl/Tk, including the ability to develop test scripts and automate repetitive workflows.
• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Pytest, Ranorex, Selenium, or equivalent tools.
• Understanding of software testing fundamentals, including test design, execution, regression testing, defect reporting, and validation of fixes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective written and verbal communication.
Preferred Skills
• Knowledge of composite mechanics, including Classical Laminate Theory (CLT), sandwich structures, and manufacturing constraints.
• Experience with design verification, validation, or testing of CAD/CAE engineering applications.
• Familiarity with Windows and UNIX/Linux environments.
• Experience with performance or stress testing, test automation frameworks, and API-based automation.
• Familiarity with Jira, Xray, Git, and collaborative software development practices.
• Exposure to AI-assisted testing, test generation, or intelligent automation techniques.
• Ability to analyze engineering models and results to identify inconsistencies or unexpected application behavior. Why Us At Siemens Software, flexibility is how we work
