About the Role
Head Of Department /Professor / Senior Faculty – Department of Biotechnology The Department of Biotechnology is seeking an accomplished academic and research leader who can contribute to the next phase of the department's growth through high-impact research, industry collaboration, sponsored projects, consultancy, international partnerships and technology-led innovation. We are particularly interested in professionals who can effectively bridge academia, industry, research and translational innovation. Position Professor / Senior Faculty – Biotechnology Responsibilities
• The selected candidate will be expected to: Lead and strengthen applied and translational research within the Department.
• Develop large-scale industry-sponsored and government-funded research programs.
• Build strategic partnerships with leading national and international companies, universities, hospitals and research institutions.
• Drive consultancy, technology development and industry projects.
• Establish new research laboratories, Centres of Excellence and multidisciplinary research groups.
• Mentor faculty and researchers in developing competitive research proposals and high-quality publications.
• Guide Ph.
D., postgraduate and undergraduate students in high-quality research and innovation projects.
• Create pathways for patents, technology transfer, licensing and commercialisation.
• Mentor student and faculty-led biotech, medtech and deep-tech startups.
• Develop international research collaborations and joint programs.
• Strengthen the department's visibility through high-impact publications, patents, funded projects, industry projects and international collaborations.
• Contribute to curriculum development with emphasis on industry relevance, emerging technologies and experiential learning.
• Represent the institution at major academic, industry and research forums nationally and internationally.
• Contribute to the strategic growth of the Department as a leading centre for applied biotechnology, translational research and innovation. Qualifications
• Minimum Qualifications & Experience Ph.
D. in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology,



Life Sciences or a closely related discipline from a reputed institution.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in academia, with significant experience in teaching, research and academic leadership.
• Strong academic and research credentials from reputed institutions.
• Demonstrated experience in building or leading research programs, laboratories, Centres of Excellence or academic-industry initiatives. Required Skills
• We Are Looking For Candidates with a strong track record in one or more of the following areas:
• Applied and translational biotechnology research addressing real-world industrial, healthcare, environmental or societal challenges.
• Strong industry connections and engagement with biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, diagnostics, food, agriculture, chemicals or life-sciences organisations.
• Demonstrated experience in industry-sponsored research and consultancy projects.
• Track record of securing competitive research grants and externally funded projects from government agencies and industry.
• Strong publication record in reputed international journals and conferences.
• Patents, technology development, technology transfer or commercialisation experience.
• Experience translating research into prototypes, products, processes, diagnostics or industrial solutions.
• Established national and international research collaborations with universities, research institutions and industry.
• Experience developing and managing MoUs, joint research programs, faculty/student exchanges and international academic partnerships.
• Experience in mentoring startups, deep-tech ventures or biotechnology/life-science enterprises.
• Ability to build multidisciplinary research programs across areas such as bioengineering, bioprocessing, synthetic biology, molecular biology, genomics, bioinformatics, diagnostics, biomaterials, tissue engineering, industrial biotechnology, environmental biotechnology and computational biology.
• Experience establishing or strengthening Centres of Excellence, laboratories, research groups or industry-funded facilities.
• Strong record of student mentoring,



particularly in research, innovation, entrepreneurship and industry projects.
• Experience supervising Ph.
D. scholars and postgraduate research students.
• Demonstrated ability to attract and develop high-quality research talent and team-oriented research teams.
• Strong professional network across academia, industry, R&D; organisations, healthcare institutions and startups. Preferred Skills
• Desirable Profile Preference will be given to candidates who have:
• Academic experience at IITs, IISc, BITS Pilani, leading NITs or other reputed national/international universities.
• Significant experience working with or collaborating with leading biotechnology, pharmaceutical, healthcare or life-sciences companies.
• International academic or research experience.
• A strong record of externally funded and industry-sponsored research.
• Experience in technology translation, product development, clinical/industrial validation or technology commercialisation.
• Successful technology transfer / licensing / startup incubation experience.
• Experience building industry-funded laboratories or Centres of Excellence.
• Experience in academic administration, department leadership or institutional development.
