Suitable candidate for this role is an emerging technical professional in Hydrology, Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, in addition to Coastal Engineering will be preferred. You will be rendering end-to-end Hydrological and Hydraulic Modelling, along with allied engineering services for Surface water systems.
The role involves planning, modelling, analysis and designing of hydraulics projects, with specific emphasis on backwater analysis in coastal and tidal-influenced river systems. The candidate will contribute to flood risk assessment, shoreline protection, drainage and coastal infrastructure projects from concept through detailed design and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out design and drawings of hydraulic structures.
- Carry out catchment hydrological studies, including rainfall-runoff analysis, design storm and design flood estimation.
- Perform frequency analysis of rainfall, river discharge and extreme water levels.
- Assess the combined effect of fluvial floods, storm surge and tides on coastal catchments.
- Develop and calibrate 1D/2D hydraulic models utilizing HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, MIKE-11/MIKE-21 of rivers, creeks, estuaries,
drains and floodplains. In addition to coastal wave modelling LITPACK, MIKE 21 SW/HD, Delft3D.
- Undertake backwater analysis for rivers, culverts, bridges, outfalls and drainage structures affected by tidal and storm-surge boundary conditions.
- Design hydraulic structures such as sluices, tidal gates, culverts, outfalls, regulators and drainage channels.
- Carry out flood inundation mapping and flood risk assessment.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Technical report writing and presentation skills.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering/ Master's degree M. Tech in Water Resources Engineering or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in Water Resources Engineering.
- Project experience: Demonstrated involvement in projects dealing with flood studies backwater analysis in coastal and tidal-affected rivers, creeks or drainage system.
Technical Skills
- Hydraulic and hydrological modelling: HEC-RAS (1D/2D, unsteady flow), HEC-HMS, MIKE 11 / MIKE 21 / MIKE FLOOD, TUFLOW, SWMM or equivalent. Coastal and wave modelling: MIKE 21 SW/HD, Delft3D, GENESIS/LITPACK or equivalent.
- GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS), AutoCAD, Python/MATLAB/Excel for data analysis.
