Key responsibilities

- Sterile Water &
- Steam Systems: Oversight of high-purity water generation and storage/distribution loops-Water for Injection (WFI), Purified Water (PW), Pure Steam Generators (PSG), and sterile Nitrogen/gas distribution.

- HVAC &

- Environmental Utilities: Support for cleanroom HVAC systems, dehumidifiers, chilled water/hot water flow balancing, and differential pressure regimes across classified zones (Grade A to D).

Energy Efficiency, Sustainability &

- Performance Metrics

- Energy Optimization (SEC): Track record of lowering Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) through heat recovery systems, variable speed drives (VFDs), boiler efficiency improvement, and energy audits (ISO 50001 alignment).

- Plant Effectiveness &
- Reliability: Maximizing MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and minimizing MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) for all critical utility assets to guarantee zero unplanned downtime for sterile production blocks.

- Downtime Management: Strategic planning and execution of preventive, predictive (vibration, thermography, oil analysis), and breakdown maintenance schedules.

Regulatory Compliance, Safety &

- Statutory Approvals

- Statutory &
- Regulatory Standards: Ensuring strict compliance with Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR), Pollution Control Board (PCB/GPCB) norms, Factory Rules,



and local safety authority guidelines.

- Pharma Audits &

- QMS: Full ownership of DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ validation, computerized system validation (CSV / 21 CFR Part 11) for utility PLC/SCADA, and facing global regulatory audits (USFDA, EU GMP, WHO-GMP).

- EHS &

- Boiler/Pressure Vessel Safety: Implementation of high safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, pressure vessel integrity testing, and chemical handling procedures.

Leadership, Budgeting &

- People Management

- Team Leadership: Directing, coaching, and upskilling a team of utility managers, shift engineers, boiler operators, and maintenance technicians.

- CAPEX &
- OPEX Budgeting: Managing annual utility operating budgets, fuel procurement strategies, spare parts inventory control, and executing utility infrastructure upgrade projects.

- Communication &

- Stakeholder Synergy: Robust cross-functional alignment with Site Manufacturing Heads, Quality Assurance, EHS, and executive leadership.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification

B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering

Experience

- Tenure: 15+ years in pharmaceutical plant utility management, with 5+ years leading large utility operations in a pharmaceutical manufacturing site.
