Overview of the role

The individual hired into this position will be part of a team of developers responsible for IPC's award-winning products. The person will be tasked with understanding business requirements and delivering solutions for our devices. The candidate must have robust technical aptitude as well as excellent communication skills. This person must be passionate about technology and continuously deepening their technical expertise.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing software solutions in a cost-effective, long-term strategy promoting reusable components, minimal maintenance costs, and high quality. The scope of the position is:

- Design and implement SIP call processing logic including signaling, call state machines, and protocol compliance.
- Develop software solutions leveraging test-driven development using unit test frameworks.




- Develop software solutions geared toward a continuous integration/continuous delivery methodology.
- Add features to an existing product as well as maintain the product over time.
- Develop end-user-facing UI applications with usability as a key factor for customer adoption.
- Review product functional requirements and non-functional requirements, participate in architecture discussions, and provide input.

Desired Skills and Experience

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Can clearly and specifically articulate their individual contributions in past roles — candidates should expect interview questions that drill into personal ownership: what you designed as well as what the team delivered.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify performant solutions (memory and execution time).
- 5+ years of professional development experience creating applications or embedded products.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum and continuous integration/continuous delivery principles.
- Able to make changes safely in an existing codebase without adding risk, knowing when refactoring is needed and how to do so safely.
- AI-fluent: uses AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code)



as a daily productivity tool; critically reviews AI-generated code before committing; and proactively identifies opportunities to apply AI to optimize common development workflows such as code review, test generation, debugging, and documentation.

Required Technologies

- SIP/RTP: Deep understanding of SIP call flows, signaling (INVITE, BYE, re-INVITE, REFER, etc.), and RTP media handling. This is the primary filter criterion for this role.
- C++: Demonstrated extensive hands-on experience. Experience with thread-safe call state management and concurrent systems required.
- Qt/QML: Solid experience including signals/slots, event loop behavior, and QML/C++ integration.
- State machine design: Experience modeling and implementing complex call state machines.
- Multithreading and concurrency: Solid understanding with attention to race conditions in state-transition code.
- Unit/integration/mock testing: Frameworks such as gtest/gmock or equivalent.
- WebSockets, WebRTC

Nice to Have

- Qt Multimedia, ALSA, or other audio stack experience.
- WAMP (WebSocket Application Messaging Protocol) — or strong familiarity with any pub/sub or RPC-over-WebSocket protocol; WAMP can be learned on the job.
- Cross-compiled embedded Linux targets (ARM/x86).
- Rust.
- Java, NodeJS, front-end frameworks (JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, Vue, etc.).

Required Education and Experience

- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of experience in relevant areas.
- Masters Degree in Computer Science a plus.
