Role Purpose The Functional Developer will be responsible for understanding business and logistics requirements and translating them into MS 365-based solutions, Power BI dashboards, workflow automation and logistics portal enhancements.

The role will act as a bridge between business users, logistics operations and technology teams, ensuring that systems and reports are customized to meet operational requirements and provide accurate, actionable information.

Key Responsibilities

1. MS 365 & Power Platform

- Develop and customize business solutions using the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
- Work on SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Forms and related MS 365 applications.
- Configure workflows for approvals, notifications, document management and operational processes.
- Automate repetitive logistics and MIS activities using Power Automate.
- Develop SharePoint lists, libraries, forms and business workflows.
- Manage user access, permissions and application configurations in coordination with IT.
- Identify opportunities to digitize manual processes across logistics operations.

2. Power BI & MIS Reporting

- Develop, maintain and customize Power BI dashboards and reports for logistics and business functions.
- Understand business KPIs and convert them into meaningful dashboards.
- Create data models, relationships, calculated columns and DAX measures.
- Customize existing reports based on changing business requirements.
- Integrate data from multiple sources such as Excel, SharePoint, SQL databases, logistics portals and other business applications.
- Develop dashboards for:
- Freight & transportation
- Vehicle utilization
- Shipment tracking
- Customer performance
- Vendor performance
- Cost & profitability
- POD status
- Operational SLA
- Billing & revenue
- Warehouse performance
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across reports.
- Optimize dashboard performance and refresh schedules.

3. Logistics Portal – Functional Development

- Understand the complete logistics process from order placement to delivery and POD closure.
- Work with logistics teams to identify system gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Configure/customize logistics portal functionalities according to operational requirements.
- Define business rules, workflows, fields, validations and approval mechanisms.
- Coordinate with technical developers/vendors for portal enhancements.
- Prepare functional specifications for new features.
- Conduct UAT and validate enhancements before production deployment.

4. Report Customisation & MIS

- Understand requirements from business users and customize existing reports accordingly.
- Develop new MIS reports based on operational requirements.
- Convert Excel-based manual reporting into automated dashboards.
- Create standardized reporting formats across departments.
- Build drill-down and exception-based reporting.
- Develop automated daily/weekly/monthly MIS.
- Maintain report documentation, data definitions and KPI logic.
- Ensure that reports provide single-source-of-truth information to management.

5. Business Requirement & Functional Analysis

- Conduct discussions with logistics, finance, operations, commercial and management teams.
- Gather and document business requirements.
- Convert business requirements into Functional Requirement Documents (FRD).
- Prepare process maps and workflow diagrams.
- Identify gaps between current processes and desired system functionality.
- Recommend technology-based solutions for operational challenges.
- Prioritize enhancement requirements based on business impact.

6. Testing & Implementation

- Prepare test scenarios and test cases.
- Conduct SIT/UAT for system enhancements.
- Coordinate with business users during UAT.
- Identify, document and track system defects.
- Validate data migration and report outputs.
- Support go-live activities.
- Prepare user manuals and SOPs.
- Conduct user training for new system functionalities.

7. Stakeholder & Vendor Management

- Act as the functional point of contact between business users and technology teams.
- Coordinate with external software/logistics portal vendors.
- Track development timelines and open issues.
- Validate vendor deliverables against agreed requirements.
- Conduct regular review meetings for pending enhancements.
- Ensure that technology solutions are aligned with actual ground-level logistics requirements.

Preferred Candidate Profile The ideal candidate should not be purely a software developer. The person should understand business processes + logistics operations + reporting + technology and be capable of translating operational requirements into practical digital solutions.

Preferred background:

B.E./B.Tech / MCA / BCA / MBA-IT / equivalent qualification with 3–6 years of experience in functional development, business applications, Power BI, MS 365 or logistics technology solutions.

Suggested Job Title

Functional Developer – MS 365, Power BI & Logistics Applications

Salary Range: 7,50,000- 8,50,000 pa

Alternative:

Functional Analyst – Digital Solutions & Logistics Technology For SSSPL, I would use the first title if you want the role to be hands-on with Power BI, MS 365 and portal customization, rather than a purely business-analysis position.
