Specialisation: Mule 3 to Mule 4 Migration

Location: Bangalore / Chennai / Coimbatore

Experience: 10+ years in IT, including 6+ years of hands-on MuleSoft experience

Work Timings: US Eastern Time (approximately 6:30 PM–3:30 AM IST during US daylight saving time and 7:30 PM–4:30 AM IST otherwise)

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior MuleSoft Integration Engineer / Technical Lead with hands-on expertise in MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and proven experience delivering at least one end-to-end Mule 3.x to Mule 4 migration.

The candidate will lead the migration and modernisation of enterprise integrations connecting IBM AS400 / IBM i systems, Snowflake, cloud-based SaaS applications, and custom Microsoft SQL Server solutions.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring active development, migration planning, architecture, production support, code reviews, and mentoring of other developers.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess existing Mule 3.x applications, flows, connectors, MEL expressions, custom Java components, and deployment targets.
- Plan and execute Mule 3 to Mule 4 migrations, including MuleSoft Migration Assistant (MMA) and manual remediation.
- Convert MEL and DataWeave 1.0 logic to DataWeave 2.0 and implement Mule 4 error-handling strategies.
- Replace deprecated connectors and transports with Mule 4 equivalents.
- Migrate deployments to CloudHub 2.0 or Runtime Fabric.
- Develop regression testing, MUnit testing, parallel-run validation, and rollback plans.
- Build integrations with IBM AS400 / IBM i, DB2 for i, RPG/COBOL programs, and data queues.
- Design batch and near-real-time data integrations with Snowflake, including bulk loading, authentication, and performance optimisation.
- Integrate SaaS and cloud applications using REST, SOAP, SFTP, events, and messaging.
- Develop integrations with custom SQL Server applications using T-SQL, stored procedures, and change-data-capture patterns.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot Mule 4 APIs and integration flows.
- Provide L2/L3 production support, incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning.




- Apply API-led connectivity principles and publish reusable assets to Anypoint Exchange.
- Implement API security, monitoring, logging, retries, idempotency, and dead-letter handling.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines using Maven, Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
- Mentor 3–6 developers, conduct code reviews, and prepare technical designs and operational runbooks.
- Work with business stakeholders, architects, and vendors to deliver integration solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

- 10+ years of experience in software or integration engineering.
- Minimum 6+ years of hands-on MuleSoft development and maintenance on Anypoint Platform.
- Robust production experience with both Mule 3.x and Mule 4.
- At least one completed end-to-end Mule 3 to Mule 4 migration.
- Expert knowledge of DataWeave 2.0 and working knowledge of MEL and DataWeave 1.0.
- Hands-on experience integrating IBM AS400 / IBM i systems, including DB2 for i, program calls, data queues, or flat-file exchange.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake connectors, bulk loading, authentication, and query performance.
- Strong SQL Server knowledge, including T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, transactions, and CDC patterns.
- Experience with REST, SOAP, SFTP, event-driven integrations, and messaging.
- API design using RAML or OpenAPI Specification (OAS).
- Experience with Anypoint API Manager, OAuth 2.0, client ID enforcement, TLS, and secure properties.
- Deployment experience with CloudHub 1.0 / 2.0 and/or Runtime Fabric.
- Experience with MUnit, Maven, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Core Java knowledge for custom components and troubleshooting.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.




- Willingness to work US Eastern Time hours on an ongoing basis.

Preferred Domain Experience

- Entertainment and Media: Ticketing, box-office systems, venue or theme-park operations, loyalty platforms, guest data, and high-volume event traffic.
- Hospitality: Property management systems, POS, guest profiles, and loyalty integrations.

Good to Have

- MuleSoft Certified Developer – Level 1 (Mule 4); Level 2 or MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect (MCIA) is an advantage.
- SnowPro Core certification.
- Experience with Anypoint MQ, Kafka, or IBM MQ.
- Exposure to Salesforce, Azure, or AWS integration services.
- Experience leading migrations with fixed cutover dates or vendor end-of-support deadlines.

Important Candidate Requirement Candidates must have actual hands-on Mule 3 to Mule 4 migration experience and be able to explain the number of applications migrated, their individual responsibilities, and the migration challenges they handled.

Candidates with only MuleSoft development experience but no completed Mule 3 to Mule 4 migration may not be a suitable match.
