People who want to make a real impact, now and in the future. Does that sound like you? Then it seems like you’d make a great addition to our vibrant international team.
At Siemens, we are scaling the Siemens Data Mesh to power the next generation of industrial AI, smart infrastructure, and digital excellence. Within the Data Domain Material Supply, we treat supply chain and material logistics data as a critical enterprise asset. We are seeking a seasoned Senior Analytics Engineer who will be a technical leader and hands-on builder in our material supply domain.
This role is at the forefront of enabling federated teams to build, model, and deploy scalable, performant, and highly reliable supply chain data products.
Move the world with your passion for data and impactful, AI-ready technologies. Rethink how we model and deliver data, steering our core analytics projects in completely new directions. Be bold when others would have given up. In short, play a key role in unlocking the full potential of data at Siemens!
We are looking for: Senior Data Engineer – Data Domain Material Supply
You’ll break new ground by:
· Design & Model Data Products: Transform raw logistics, ERP, and material tracking data into structured, clean, and optimized data models (dimensional modeling, One Schema) in Snowflake that serve as reliable, consumer-grade supply chain data products.
· Master the DBT Pipeline: Build, optimize, and maintain scalable data transformation pipelines using DBT, implementing advanced testing, documentation, and version control best practices.
· Accelerate Ingestion & Streaming: Collaborate on up-stream data flows, leveraging modern ingestion and streaming tools like SnapLogic and Confluent Cloud to integrate transactional ERP data and real-time inventory tracking event-streams.
· Implement Production-Grade DataOps: Champion DataOps principles by establishing robust CI/CD deployment pipelines, automated data quality testing (using DBT test, Great Expectations, etc.), and continuous monitoring.
· Enable & Consult Federated Teams: Act as a central consultant and advisor to other Siemens supply chain data teams, helping them solve complex data warehousing, performance, and modeling challenges.
· Monitor & Maintain Pipeline Health: Produce and analyze meaningful metrics, execution logs, and tracing tools to proactively debug, monitor, and scale operational data pipelines.
· Mentor & Lead by Example: Mentor junior engineers, conduct thorough code reviews, and drive a culture of continuous learning, documentation, and engineering excellence.
You’re excited to build on your existing expertise, including:
· Education: University degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
· Professional Experience: 7+ years of experience in data engineering and cloud-based data warehousing, with a strong focus on analytics engineering.
· Domain Advantage: Domain knowledge in material supply, procurement, logistics, or supply chain data analytics is highly advantageous.
· DBT & SQL Mastery: Expert-level SQL skills and deep, hands-on experience building complex data transformation projects with DBT (including macros, packages, and custom materializations).
· Snowflake Expertise: Extensive experience working with Snowflake, including performance tuning, cluster management, zero-copy cloning, and secure data sharing.
· DataOps & Automation:
Strong understanding of modern DataOps practices, including Git-based version control, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automated data testing.
· Ingestion & Integration: Familiarity with modern ingestion frameworks and streaming tools such as Confluent Cloud, Kafka, or SnapLogic.
· Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, script automation, or custom pipeline logic.
· Stakeholder & Advisory Skills: Solid consultative mindset with the ability to bridge technical engineering and supply chain operational requirements.
· Languages: Excellent command of written and spoken English is required; knowledge of German is a plus.
