Company Description DigAIT is a scientific technology and consulting partner that helps organizations in the chemical and life sciences industries accelerate digital transformation across research, development, laboratory, manufacturing, and operations. The team combines AI, IT, scientific data, and deep domain expertise to design and implement connected, data-driven solutions. Core capabilities include process modeling and digital process transformation, laboratory and manufacturing solutions, data analytics and business intelligence, machine learning and generative AI, as well as cheminformatics, bioinformatics, and data stewardship.
DigAIT works with clients throughout the full journey—from assessing current processes and defining future-state solutions to implementation, system integration, analytics, and AI adoption—using platforms such as LIMS, ELN, MES, ERP, SAP Signavio, Power BI, Tableau, AWS, Azure, Python, and up-to-date AI/LLM tools. The company’s mission is to make scientific processes more intelligent, scalable, and insight-driven for global scientific organizations.
Role Description We are looking for a scientifically minded, hands-on application specialist to configure and maintain R&D; data management platform of our client based in Europe, with a primary focus on formulation development workflows and scientific data structures. This role is not primarily a traditional LIMS administration or sample-management position. It focuses on translating real-world formulation and materials R&D; processes into practical, structured, and scalable configurations within Uncountable.
You will work closely with formulation scientists, R&D; teams, IT, and data science colleagues to ensure that formulations, raw materials, experimental workflows, test methods, specifications, and results are represented accurately and consistently in the platform.
The ideal candidate combines a background in chemistry, materials science,
formulation development, or a related scientific discipline with experience in configuring scientific software, structuring experimental data, and improving R&D; workflows.
Key responsibilities
1. Formulation workflow and platform configuration
- Configure Uncountable to support formulation development, experimental workflows, and scientific data capture.
- Translate formulation processes into platform configurations, including formulation structures, ingredients, raw materials, properties, units, specifications, test methods, and results.
- Configure templates, data fields, relationships, workflow logic, and data uploaders to meet R&D; requirements.
- Work with scientists to improve how formulations are created, compared, iterated, evaluated, and documented.
- Test configurations and ensure they accurately represent scientific processes.
2. Scientific data modelling and governance
- Establish consistent data structures, naming conventions, units, metadata, and reference data.
- Ensure relationships between formulations, raw materials, experiments, process conditions, and test results are maintained.
- Improve data quality, traceability, reusability, and readiness for analytics and machine learning.
3. Stakeholder collaboration and adoption
- Gather requirements from scientists and translate them into workable platform configurations.
- Conduct user testing, training, onboarding, and troubleshooting.
- Document configurations, workflows, and operating procedures.
- Coordinate configuration changes and continuously improve the user experience.
4.
Platform integration and support
- Coordinate with IT and technical teams on integrations with instruments, LIMS, ERP, PLM, and data platforms where required.
- Support issue resolution, release testing, change management, and platform operations.
- Contribute to the rollout of established configurations to additional laboratories or R&D; teams.
Required qualifications
- A degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, formulation science, or a closely related field.
- Experience with formulation development, materials R&D;, experimental workflows, or scientific data management.
- Experience translating scientific or laboratory processes into structured digital workflows, data models, templates, or application configurations.
- Strong understanding of scientific data, including materials, formulations, experimental parameters, measurements, units, and test results.
- Ability to work directly with scientists and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into practical solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Required qualifications
- Hands-on experience with any material informatics platform, particularly its formulation and R&D; capabilities.
- Experience configuring ELN, formulation management, scientific data management, or other R&D; platforms.
- Experience with formulation data from industries such as chemicals, coatings, polymers, adhesives, batteries, consumer products, food, or pharmaceuticals.
- Familiarity with APIs, data imports, system integrations, and data analytics.
- Experience with agile delivery, user acceptance testing, and change management.
- Important: Experience with a traditional LIMS alone is not sufficient unless accompanied by relevant formulation/R&D; knowledge and demonstrable experience configuring scientific workflows or data models.
