We are looking for a Senior SAS Developer with strong hands-on experience in SAS programming, data integration, ETL development, data transformation, and enterprise data processing. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of SAS development technologies, including Base SAS, SAS Macro, PROC SQL, DATA Step programming, SAS Data Integration Studio, and database connectivity.

The candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, maintaining, and optimizing SAS applications and data processing workflows. The role also involves analyzing existing SAS jobs, understanding complex business logic, documenting data flows, identifying optimization opportunities, and supporting the modernization and integration of SAS-based solutions with contemporary data platforms such as Snowflake and Informatica IDMC.

The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently across development, troubleshooting, performance tuning, production support, and data migration initiatives while collaborating with data engineers, solution architects, business analysts, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain SAS programs, applications, ETL processes, and data integration workflows.
- Develop complex SAS programs using Base SAS, DATA Step, PROC SQL, SAS Macro, functions, formats, informats, arrays, and reusable programming components.
- Develop and maintain parameterized SAS macros and reusable frameworks to improve code maintainability, consistency, and development efficiency.
- Build and optimize data extraction, transformation, validation, aggregation, and loading processes using SAS.
- Work with SAS Data Integration Studio, SAS Enterprise Guide, and other relevant SAS development tools to build and manage data processing workflows.
- Develop and maintain SAS jobs involving relational databases, flat files, delimited files, Excel files, and other structured data sources.
- Utilize SAS/ACCESS and appropriate database connectivity technologies to integrate SAS with SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, and other supported data platforms.
- Develop complex SQL queries, joins, subqueries, aggregations, and data transformation logic to support business and analytical requirements.
- Implement data quality checks, reconciliation logic, exception handling, audit controls, and error logging within SAS applications.
- Analyze existing SAS programs and workflows to understand business rules,



transformation logic, scheduling requirements, and upstream and downstream dependencies.
- Troubleshoot SAS program failures, data discrepancies, performance issues, and production incidents.
- Perform performance tuning of SAS programs through efficient DATA Step processing, SQL optimization, indexing, appropriate use of intermediate datasets, and reduction of unnecessary I/O.
- Analyze SAS logs, execution statistics, warnings, and errors to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Develop and maintain scheduled batch processes, job dependencies, restart mechanisms, and operational monitoring procedures.
- Support data integration and modernization initiatives by translating SAS business logic into Informatica IDMC workflows, Snowflake SQL, stored procedures, or other approved target technologies.
- Collaborate with Informatica developers and data architects to establish source-to-target mappings and validate migrated transformation logic.
- Identify redundant processing and opportunities to consolidate SAS programs, standardize reusable logic, and improve data pipeline efficiency.
- Develop unit tests, regression tests, data validation scripts, and reconciliation procedures to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain technical specifications, data mappings, process documentation, code comments, and operational support procedures.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, release planning, production deployments, and knowledge-transfer activities.
- Follow source control, coding standards, development lifecycle practices, and deployment procedures using tools such as Git and Azure DevOps where applicable.

Required Qualifications

- 7+ years of experience in SAS development, programming, data integration, or enterprise data engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Base SAS, DATA Step programming, PROC SQL, SAS Macro, functions, formats, and informats.
- Experience developing complex SAS programs involving joins, aggregations, conditional processing, data cleansing, and business rule implementation.




- Strong knowledge of SAS Macro programming, including macro variables, macro functions, parameterized programs, and reusable code frameworks.
- Experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting SAS ETL workflows and scheduled batch jobs.
- Experience with SAS Data Integration Studio, SAS Enterprise Guide, or comparable SAS development tools.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases and enterprise data warehouses.
- Experience with SAS/ACCESS or equivalent technologies for database connectivity and data integration.
- Knowledge of SAS libraries, datasets, views, indexes, formats, and dataset management.
- Experience with data profiling, data quality validation, source-to-target mapping, and data reconciliation.
- Strong debugging and performance-tuning skills, including SAS log analysis and identification of inefficient processing patterns.
- Experience handling structured files, database extracts, data feeds, and large-volume data processing.
- Ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into maintainable SAS solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with SAS Data Integration Studio metadata, jobs, transformations, and scheduling frameworks.
- Knowledge of SAS/CONNECT, SAS/ACCESS engines, ODS reporting, and other relevant SAS capabilities.
- Experience with SAS/STAT, SAS/GRAPH, or related analytical procedures where applicable to business requirements.
- Familiarity with SAS Viya and up-to-date SAS analytics or data engineering capabilities.
- Experience integrating SAS with Snowflake, Informatica IDMC, SQL Server, Oracle, or other enterprise data platforms.
- Knowledge of Snowflake SQL, stored procedures, query optimization, and pushdown processing concepts.
- Experience analyzing and modernizing legacy ETL applications or translating SAS logic into other data integration technologies.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and controlled deployment processes.
- Experience with production support, job scheduling tools, monitoring frameworks, and incident management.
- Experience in banking, financial services, regulatory reporting, or other data-intensive business environments.
