- Delivery Inspection & Verification: Unload incoming trucks, check physical boxes or pallets against purchase orders (POs), bills of lading, and invoices, and verify item counts, batch numbers, and prices.
- Quality & Safety Checks: Inspect items for damage, leaks, tampering, or expiration dates, and verify that refrigerated or frozen goods meet required storage and transit temperatures.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Contact vendors, drivers, or shipping companies immediately to report short shipments, overages, or damaged goods, and process return-to-vendor (RTV) or credit requests.
- Inventory & System Entry: Log received goods into the supermarket’s enterprise resource planning (ERP), inventory management, or warehouse management system (WMS), and generate pricing/identification labels.
- Staging & Stockroom Organization: Sort, tag, and organize incoming stock, moving goods to appropriate departments (chiller, grocery, produce, non-food) using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) or FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out) principles.
