Kolkata, West Bengal | Steel manufacturing | Work from office
We’re hiring a Manager HR to run HR at a steel manufacturing plant in Kolkata for one of India’s leading stainless steel companies.
This is a plant role. You will be the senior HR person on site. You’ll handle the union, the shop floor, contract labour and statutory compliance, and you’ll help keep production running without disputes.
What you’ll do
- Lead all HR operations at the plant as the plant head’s HR partner
- Manage industrial relations, union meetings, charter of demands and grievances
- Run disciplinary processes and domestic enquiries under Standing Orders
- Own statutory compliance and handle factory, labour, PF and ESI inspections
- Control contract labour: licences, wage compliance and contractor audits
- Oversee time office, attendance, overtime and payroll inputs
- Drive manpower planning, engagement, welfare and plant HR reporting
What you bring
- Experience as a plant HR generalist in a unionised manufacturing unit
- Hands-on union negotiation and grievance handling, done by you rather than supported by you
- Working knowledge of the Factories Act, CLRA, ID Act and the recent labour codes
- Contract labour management experience
- MBA, PGDM, MSW or MA in PM&IR;
Good to have
- A long-term wage settlement you led or closed
- Experience working with the West Bengal labour department
- Bengali for shop-floor communication
- Background in steel, metals or process industries
