About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented BI Analyst with 2–3 years of experience to build and maintain dashboards, reports, and data solutions using Tableau and AI-powered visualization tools. Working with business stakeholders and senior BI team members, you will turn data from Amazon Redshift and MongoDB into accurate, reliable insights.
The role also involves supporting ETL pipelines built with Python, Pentaho, and Spark, applying data quality checks, sharing data model feedback with the data warehouse team, and using AI to speed up report development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop, maintain, and enhance interactive dashboards and reports in Tableau and AI-powered visualization tools (e.g., Tableau AI, Power BI Copilot, or similar), using features such as natural-language queries and automated insights.
2. Write and optimize SQL on Amazon Redshift and query MongoDB collections to extract, join, aggregate, and analyze data.
3. Use AI tools to build reports faster, including generating and optimizing SQL, drafting Tableau calculations and visual layouts, documenting dashboards, and summarizing insights, while validating all AI-generated output.
4. Gather reporting requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into dashboards, KPIs, and report enhancements.
5. Support the development, monitoring, and maintenance of ETL workflows using Python, Pentaho, and Spark, and help optimize and scale pipelines on AWS (e.g., Spark and Python jobs on EC2 Spot Instances).
6. Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks,
so dashboards and reports are accurate and consistent before release.
7. Troubleshoot dashboard issues and data discrepancies, and work with senior team members to identify and resolve root causes.
8. Share feedback with the data warehouse team on metric definitions and data model design, such as missing attributes, grain issues, or performance bottlenecks found while building reports.
9. Help build and maintain the semantic layer by defining reusable metrics, dimensions, and business logic so KPIs stay consistent across reports.
10. Manage workbooks, published data sources, extract refreshes, deployments, and access permissions on Tableau Server/Cloud and other BI platforms.
11. Prepare ad hoc analyses and insights to support business operations and stakeholder requests.
12. Maintain documentation for dashboards, SQL, data sources, and business logic, and use version control (Git/Bitbucket) for code.
13. Participate in sprint activities, code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement within the BI team.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Statistics, or related fields.
- 2–3 years of experience in Business Intelligence, data analytics, or reporting.
- Intermediate to advanced SQL, including joins, subqueries, CTEs, and window functions.
- Hands-on experience building dashboards in Tableau (calculated fields, parameters, filters, and LOD expressions), with a good grasp of visualization principles.
- Exposure to AI-powered visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau AI, Power BI Copilot, or similar) and the ability to adopt new AI-driven BI tools quickly.
- Understanding of data warehousing and dimensional modelling (facts, dimensions, and star/snowflake schemas), with hands-on exposure to Amazon Redshift and/or MongoDB.
- Working knowledge of Python for data processing (e.g., Pandas, NumPy) and exposure to Pentaho or Spark (PySpark).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with close attention to data accuracy.
- Positive communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to AWS services (S3, EC2, EMR, Glue, Lambda) and to scaling pipelines using Spot Instances and advanced Python libraries (e.g., PySpark, Polars, Dask, SQLAlchemy, boto3).
- Hands-on experience in data modelling (e.g., designing fact and dimension tables or star/galaxy schemas) is an advantage.
- Knowledge of semantic layer concepts (governed metrics, reusable dimensions, and Tableau published data sources).
- Exposure to Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud administration.
- Domain knowledge of financial services, lending, or fintech.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, Jira, Confluence, and advanced Excel.
