TRP Sports is a 10-year-old Bangalore sports management company and one of India's leading football player management agencies. We represent 75 footballers, plus athletes in cricket and Olympic sports, run brand partnerships and consulting, and manage 7 venues in Bangalore through Playspaces.
We are hiring an HR Manager — our first dedicated HR role — to build and run our people function for a team of ~30 core staff and 5-10 contract staff.
Role:
HR Manager — People & Culture
Location:
Bangalore, on-site, with regular time at venues
Reports to:
The three directors
Type:
Full-time
Experience:
2–3 years in HR, ideally as a generalist in a startup or growing company
Key Responsibilities:
Roles, goals and performance
- Run the role-clarity exercise with every role-holder and their manager: reporting lines, stakeholders, focus areas, outcomes and indicators.
- Turn agreed company focus areas into simple KRAs for each team and person.
- Design and run a regular feedback and appraisal cycle (quarterly or half-yearly check-ins, not only yearly).
- Support managers, many of them first-time leads, to set expectations, give feedback and handle hard conversations.
Hiring and onboarding
- Build a structured hiring process with role scorecards, consistent interviews and realistic previews of high-pressure roles.
- Reduce dependence on personal networks by building sourcing channels for venue, sales, athlete management and content roles.
- Create an onboarding playbook covering the company, each team and the sports context, and run it for every new joiner.
- Set up basic training paths so freshers learn by design, not only on the ground.
Policies and compliance
- Write and maintain an employee handbook: POSH, code of conduct, grievances, leave, ways of working, incentives and benefits.
- Set up the POSH Internal Committee and run awareness sessions.
- Ensure compliance with Indian labour law, including the recent Labour Codes, for both core and contract staff (payroll inputs, PF/ESI, contracts, statutory registers).
- Manage contract and venue staff practices with vendors where relevant.
Employee experience and retention
- Be a neutral, confidential point of contact for grievances, conflicts and concerns.
- Run exit interviews, track why people leave, and act on the patterns, starting with venue and athlete management roles.
- Help leaders articulate TRP's team values and use them in hiring, recognition and performance.
- Set up regular communication forums, such as a monthly open house.
HR operations and data
- Build clean, reliable HR data: employee records, org chart, headcount, attrition and leave.
- Select and implement a light HRMS (for example Zoho People or BambooHR).
- Prepare HR systems to fundraising due-diligence standard: documented roles, reporting lines, policies and performance processes.
- Support directors with org charts, compensation benchmarking data and hiring plans before new projects are taken on.
Who are we looking for:
Must have
- 2–3 years in HR,
ideally as a generalist in a startup, growing SME or multi-site business.
- Hands-on exposure to some of: policies, onboarding, appraisal cycles and HR data.
- A sound grasp of Indian labour law basics, POSH and statutory compliance (PF/ESI), and the willingness to learn the new Labour Codes fast.
- Experience running end-to-end hiring, ideally including frontline or operations roles.
- The confidence to raise issues with founders and managers, and hold a line when needed.
Good to have
- Experience in sports, events, hospitality, retail or other multi-site, shift-based businesses.
- Set up an HRMS such as Zoho People, BambooHR or Keka.
- Exposure to a fundraise or investor due diligence.
- A personal interest in sport.
How you work
- Neutral and trusted. People bring you problems because they know you will be fair and discreet.
- Builder, not administrator. You prefer a simple system that gets used over a perfect one that doesn't.
- Calm in a fast, informal culture. You can add structure without killing the openness and ownership people value here.
- Direct. You tell founders what they need to hear, kindly and clearly.
- On the ground. You are as comfortable at a venue at 7 am as in a boardroom.
What do we offer:
- The chance to shape how TRP hires, grows and looks after its people, with direct backing from the founders.
- A passionate, open team where anyone can talk to anyone.
- Competitive compensation, in line with experience.
How to Apply: Send your CV and a short note on an HR process you set up or improved, and what you would do first at TRP, to
