GD/IB Enterprise Architect

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Enterprise Architect in Global Digital Services, you will drive the evolution of BASF’s IT landscape and Enterprise Architecture in line with our “Hit Refresh” strategy, with a particular focus on cloud infrastructure, enterprise content management, and digital workplace.

- Shape and continuously evolve the target architecture for cloud infrastructure, enterprise content management, and digital workplace, ensuring alignment with the overall enterprise architecture and BASF’s strategic priorities
- Provide architectural direction across these domains, driving simplification, standardization, scalability, and reuse of strategic platforms and technologies
- Steer the application and technology portfolio within your focus domains from an enterprise perspective, while considering dependencies and implications across the broader IT landscape
- Contribute to the enterprise-wide target architecture and ensure that domain-specific architecture decisions are consistent with overarching architecture principles and strategic direction
- Take ownership of architectural governance by defining, enforcing, and evolving architecture principles, standards, and decision frameworks across BASF
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, translating business and technology needs into clear architectural direction and enabling informed decision-making
- Navigate complex organizational structures, manage escalations,



and drive strategic architecture decisions even in the face of resistance
- Foster a culture of architectural discipline, promoting transparency, ownership, and accountability across teams

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Information Technology, or a comparable field
- Several years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, IT strategy, or large-scale transformation environments
- Broad knowledge across multiple areas of enterprise IT, combined with deep architectural expertise in cloud infrastructure, enterprise content management, and digital workplace
- Strong understanding of how infrastructure, platforms, applications, data, integration, security, and workplace technologies interact within a complex enterprise architecture
- Solid understanding of enterprise architecture principles, application portfolio management, and governance in complex organizations
- Proven ability to think strategically and translate business strategy into clear and actionable architecture direction
- Strong track record in driving change in complex environments, including managing resistance and resolving escalations effectively
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including interaction with senior leadership
- High level of ownership, proactiveness, and persistence in driving strategic outcomes
