Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Freight Business Performance Manager to manage business MIS, profitability analysis, and commercial performance reporting for freight operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of freight forwarding economics, revenue and cost structures, and financial performance analysis.

The role involves analysing shipment and customer profitability, identifying margin leakage, developing management dashboards, and providing actionable insights to improve business performance. The candidate will also coordinate with IT service providers to improve systems, reporting accuracy, and business MIS.

Key Responsibilities

- Own business MIS and profitability reporting across freight operations.
- Analyse revenue, freight costs, buying and selling rates, surcharges, handling charges, agent costs, and other cost components to determine actual shipment and customer profitability.
- Identify margin leakage, incorrect costing, under-pricing, cost overruns, and loss-making business.
- Analyse P&L; and profitability by customer, trade lane, origin/destination, carrier, product, salesperson, and shipment.
- Develop and maintain management dashboards, MIS reports, and performance trackers.
- Provide actionable insights explaining business performance, the reasons behind results, and recommended corrective actions.
- Identify commercial trends, margin improvement opportunities, and areas for cost optimisation.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across business performance reports.




- Coordinate with IT service providers for system improvements, report corrections, and enhancement of MIS capabilities.
- Work closely with business and operations teams to validate data, investigate discrepancies, and improve commercial decision-making.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience in MIS, business performance analysis, commercial reporting, or profitability analysis; freight forwarding or logistics experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of ocean freight and/or air freight economics and operations.
- Excellent MS Excel skills and the ability to work with large datasets.
- Strong understanding of revenue, gross margin, contribution margin, and freight cost structures.
- Experience in P&L; analysis, profitability reporting, cost analysis, and management dashboards.
- Ability to investigate financial and operational data and connect findings to actual business drivers.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the confidence to challenge business teams using data.
- Experience coordinating with IT teams or service providers for MIS reporting and system improvements.
