We are hiring a person for our 5-axis CNC machine, from CAM programming to finished part to upkeep. Strong 3-axis CAM experience is the main requirement; we will train you on 5-axis work.

About FloaidFloaid Medtech is a Chennai-based cardiac medical device company building heart-lung machines and percutaneous ventricular assist devices. We are setting up in-house precision machining for prototypes and low-volume production parts.

Role SummaryYou will convert 3D models and drawings into toolpaths, set up and run the machine, inspect the parts, and keep the machine in good condition. You are the single point of ownership for the 5-axis CNC machine

Key ResponsibilitiesCAM and programming

- Create toolpaths from CAD models and drawings for 3-axis, 3+2 (indexed) and, as you grow, simultaneous 5-axis machining.
- Select cutting tools, speeds, feeds and work-holding strategies suited to each material.
- Simulate and verify toolpaths for collisions, gouges and travel limits, then post-process for the machine's controller.
- Optimise cycle times and tool life, and keep a library of proven programs, tool lists and setup sheets.

Machine operation

- Plan setups, fixtures and work-holding, and set work offsets and tool lengths.
- Run first-article and production batches, and make in-process adjustments for tolerance and surface finish.
- Prove out new programs safely: dry runs, single-block, and reduced feed on the first cut.

Quality and inspection

- Inspect parts with calipers, micrometers, height gauges and surface roughness testers.
- Read drawings with GD&T; and tight tolerances, and flag manufacturability issues to the design team early.
- Maintain traceability of material,



program version and inspection records, as required by our ISO 13485 quality system.

Maintenance and housekeeping

- Carry out daily, weekly and monthly maintenance: lubrication, coolant concentration and level, filters, chip clearing, spindle and axis checks.
- Maintain a maintenance log, and coordinate with the vendor for service and breakdowns.
- Manage tooling and consumables inventory, and keep the machining area clean and safe.

Collaboration

- Work with the design and development team on design for manufacturability.
- Support rapid prototyping requests with realistic lead times.

Must-Have Requirements
- Hands-on CAM programming experience on 3-axis CNC machines (mandatory).
- Proficiency in at least one CAM package (for example Fusion 360, Mastercam, SolidCAM, hyperMILL, NX CAM, Esprit or similar).
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.;
- Working knowledge of G-code and M-code, work offsets, tool compensation and post-processors.
- Experience with precision inspection tools.
- Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production or Manufacturing, or an ITI/NTTF/CITD qualification with relevant experience.

Good to Have
- Exposure to 4-axis, 5-axis or 3+2 machining.
- Experience machining stainless steel (316L), titanium, aluminium or engineering plastics such as PEEK and Delrin.
- Experience with micro-machining or small, thin-walled, high-finish parts.
- Experience with Siemens, Fanuc or other controllers used on 5-axis machines.
- Familiarity with medical device, aerospace or other regulated manufacturing.
- Experience with fixture design and probing cycles.
