Job Summary
We are looking for a proactive and result-oriented HR Business Partner (HRBP) – Assistant Manager to manage HR operations and partner with retail business stakeholders across the Mumbai region. The role will focus on talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, employee relations, and HR operations to support business objectives and ensure effective people management across retail locations.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Business Partnering
- Partner with retail business leaders and store teams to understand business requirements and provide effective HR support.
- Align HR initiatives with business objectives to improve employee productivity, engagement, and retention.
- Act as a key point of contact for employees and managers on HR-related matters.
2. Talent Acquisition & Manpower Planning
- Coordinate with the Talent Acquisition team for timely closure of retail and regional hiring requirements.
- Monitor manpower availability, vacancies, attrition, and replacement requirements across stores.
- Ensure timely onboarding and smooth integration of new employees.
3. Employee Engagement & Retention
- Drive employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and retention activities across retail locations.
- Identify employee concerns and work towards improving employee satisfaction and workplace culture.
- Conduct store visits and employee interactions to understand ground-level challenges.
4. Performance Management
- Support the implementation of performance appraisal processes, goal setting, and performance reviews.
- Work with business managers to identify performance gaps and facilitate improvement plans.
- Monitor probation reviews, confirmation processes, and employee performance documentation.
5. HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure timely completion of joining formalities,
employee documentation, transfers, confirmations, and exit formalities.
- Coordinate with payroll and HR operations teams for attendance, leave, salary-related queries, and employee data accuracy.
- Ensure adherence to company HR policies and applicable labour laws.
- Maintain accurate HR records and prepare periodic HR reports and MIS.
6. Employee Relations & Grievance Management
- Address employee grievances and disciplinary matters in a fair and timely manner.
- Support managers in resolving employee-related issues and maintaining a positive work workplace.
- Ensure consistent implementation of HR policies and procedures across retail locations.
7. HR Analytics & Reporting
- Track and analyse key HR metrics, including attrition, absenteeism, manpower strength, hiring status, and employee retention.
- Prepare monthly HR MIS and share actionable insights with business stakeholders.
- Identify trends and recommend initiatives to improve workforce productivity and stability.
Desired Candidate Profile
- MBA/PGDM in Human Resources or a related field.
- 3–6 years of relevant HR experience, preferably in retail, fashion, apparel, or lifestyle brands.
- Experience in HR business partnering with retail or multi-location operations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of HR operations, employee relations, talent acquisition, and labour law compliance.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, HRMS, and HR reporting.
- Willingness to travel across stores within the assigned region.
