Job Overview
We are looking for skilled Assessment Creators with expertise in Engineering, Science, Technology, and related STEM disciplines to develop high-quality technical assessments for evaluating candidates applying for Subject Matter Expert (SME) roles.
The primary responsibility of this role is to create original, challenging, domain-specific assessment questions that evaluate candidates' advanced technical knowledge, analytical thinking, and multi-step reasoning capabilities. Assessment Creators will also develop detailed worked solutions and definitive answer keys to ensure that every assessment item is technically accurate, clearly defined, and objectively verifiable.
Candidates must have strong subject-matter expertise in their respective disciplines and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into rigorous, well-structured assessment questions.
Key Responsibilities
•Design high-complexity, domain-specific assessment questions for SME hiring across Engineering, Science, Technology, and closely related disciplines.
•Develop challenging, multi-step problems that evaluate candidates' conceptual understanding, quantitative reasoning, analytical skills, and application of fundamental principles.
•Create original assessment content that tests genuine subject-matter expertise rather than simple recall or direct formula substitution.
•Prepare comprehensive, step-by-step worked solutions, including relevant formulas, calculations, assumptions, intermediate results, and final answers.
•Develop multimodal assessment questions using technically accurate diagrams, engineering drawings, schematics, scientific plots, and other visual artifacts, wherever required.
•Ensure every question is self-contained, unambiguous, logically consistent,
and designed to have a single objectively verifiable answer.
•Independently verify all calculations, solution steps, units, and final answers before submission.
•Ensure assessment questions meet the required difficulty level and align with the technical expectations of the SME role.
•Review and refine assessment content for technical accuracy, originality, clarity, and completeness.
•Follow prescribed content guidelines, formatting standards, LaTeX conventions, and submission requirements.
Assessment Creation Standards
•Domain relevance: Questions must be grounded in the core theories, principles, and analytical methods of the relevant Engineering, Science, or Technology discipline.
•Difficulty: Assessments should target the Hard tier, requiring multiple reasoning steps, integration of concepts, and meaningful analytical decisions.
•Clarity: Each question must contain all necessary information, constraints, and boundary conditions without relying on unstated assumptions.
•Verifiability: Every assessment item must have one objectively verifiable answer supported by a complete and rigorous solution.
•Technical accuracy: All formulas, calculations, units, assumptions, and visual representations must be independently validated.
•Mathematical formatting: Equations, symbols, units, and mathematical expressions must be formatted using proper LaTeX math mode.
•Visual quality: Where applicable,
figures must be technically correct, high-resolution, clearly labelled, and free of watermarks or interface artifacts.
•Content integrity: Assessment questions, solutions, and final answers must be independently authored without generative AI tools or AI-generated content at any stage of assessment creation.
Required Qualifications
Education
•PhD in Engineering, Science, Technology, or a closely related discipline.
Technical and Assessment Development Skills
•Robust subject-matter expertise in at least one STEM specialization, such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or another relevant technical discipline.
•Ability to develop advanced, multi-step technical questions that assess conceptual understanding, quantitative reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
•Strong command of the first principles, mathematical methods, and analytical techniques relevant to the candidate's area of specialization.
•Experience preparing detailed technical solutions, mathematical derivations, answer keys, or academic problem sets.
•Proficiency in interpreting and creating technical visuals, including diagrams, drawings, schematics, plots, and data visualizations, wherever relevant.
•Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to present questions and solutions clearly, precisely, and systematically.
•Working proficiency in LaTeX for mathematical expressions, equations, symbols, and units.
•Demonstrated experience in academic or industrial research, university-level teaching, examination development, technical content creation, or advanced problem authoring.
