JMN Medical College, West Bengal, seeks an accomplished forensic medicine specialist and academic leader to develop its Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology into a centre of excellence in education, medico-legal practice, toxicology and research.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Departmental leadership: Develop and implement a departmental growth plan with clear priorities, responsibilities and measurable outcomes.
- Academic excellence: Lead competency-based teaching, practical demonstrations, case discussions, assessments and student mentoring.
- Practical training: Organise authorised medico-legal and post-mortem exposure, mock court sessions, report-writing exercises and evidence-handling training.
- Medico-legal quality: Strengthen objective documentation, timely expert opinions, confidentiality, specimen preservation and chain-of-custody procedures within the institution’s authorised scope.
- Toxicology: Develop teaching resources and interdisciplinary collaboration with Emergency, Medicine and other clinical departments.
- Research and faculty development: Mentor faculty, promote ethical research and quality publications, and build productive academic partnerships.
- Infrastructure and compliance:



Strengthen departmental laboratories, museum and teaching resources; maintain safety standards, accurate records and regulatory readiness.
- Postgraduate development: Assess readiness and guide preparation for a proposed postgraduate programme, subject to institutional and regulatory approval.

ELIGIBILITY MD in Forensic Medicine/Forensic Medicine & Toxicology or an equivalent recognised qualification, valid medical registration, and eligibility for the HOD position and faculty rank offered under applicable NMC requirements.

Preference will be given to eligible Professors with demonstrated departmental leadership, teaching excellence, medico-legal experience and research achievements.

REMUNERATION: ₹4,00,000 PER MONTH
