About the opportunity

This role is with a well-established MEP/EPC contracting organisation based in Gurgaon, delivering mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and fire-protection systems across industrial and commercial projects. The search is being managed by Cusec Consulting, a management and talent-advisory firm partnering with leading real-estate, infrastructure and MEP/EPC organisations.

We are seeking an Accountant – Bookkeeping & Project Accounts Payable to maintain project books and manage the contractor/subcontractor payable cycle — verifying RA bills against BOQs and confirming that contractors have met their labour-compliance obligations before payment is released.

Role overview

Reporting to the Accounts Manager / Head – Finance, this role combines day-to-day bookkeeping with project accounts payable. The incumbent records transactions and maintains ledgers, and owns the contractor-payable process — verifying running-account (RA) bills, cross-checking billed quantities against the BOQ and measurement sheets, applying the correct deductions (retention, advances, TDS, debit notes), and confirming that contractors have discharged statutory labour obligations before release of payment. The role suits an accountant with project / contracting accounts-payable experience.

Key responsibilities

1. Bookkeeping and ledgers. Record day-to-day transactions in Tally/ERP and maintain accurate vendor, subcontractor and project ledgers with supporting documentation.
2. RA bill verification. Verify contractor and subcontractor running-account (RA) bills — rates, measured quantities, taxes and previous-bill carry-forward — and certify for payment in coordination with Projects / Billing.
3. BOQ and quantity reference. Cross-check billed quantities against the BOQ and approved measurement sheets, flag over-billing or quantity variances, and ensure items billed fall within the contracted scope and rates.
4. Labour-compliance verification.



Confirm that contractors have discharged statutory labour obligations (wages, PF, ESI, licences and registers under CLRA) before release of payment — obtaining and filing the necessary proofs and coordinating with HR / Compliance.
5. Accounts payable and deductions. Process vendor and subcontractor payments; apply retention, mobilisation/material advances, TDS and debit/credit notes; and maintain the payable and retention registers.
6. Reconciliation and reporting. Reconcile vendor/subcontractor ledgers and advances, support monthly closing and project-cost MIS, and assist statutory and internal audits.

Required qualifications and skills
- B.Com / M.Com (CA Inter / CMA Inter an advantage).
- 5–10 years’ experience in accounting and accounts payable, with project / contracting AP exposure.
- Hands-on experience verifying RA bills and reading BOQs / measurement sheets.
- Working knowledge of TDS, works-contract GST, retention and advances.
- Awareness of contract-labour statutory compliance (wages, PF, ESI, CLRA) as applied to contractor payments.
- Proficiency in Tally / ERP accounting and strong MS Excel.

Preferred (good to have)
- Experience in construction / MEP / EPC project accounts payable.
- Familiarity with RA-bill certification workflows and quantity / BOQ verification.
- Exposure to SAP / ERP in a contracting environment.
