Job Summary

We are looking for a responsible, disciplined, and patient-friendly Ward Boy / General Duty Assistant (GDA) to support nursing staff in providing safe and timely patient care. The candidate should have practical hospital experience and be comfortable working in a multispecialty hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist nurses and doctors with routine patient-care activities.
- Help patients with shifting, transferring, positioning, and transportation within the hospital.
- Transfer patients safely to the ICU, OT, emergency department, diagnostic areas, and wards as instructed.
- Assist with wheelchairs, stretchers, and patient beds.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene around patient beds and ward areas in coordination with housekeeping staff.
- Follow hospital infection-control protocols, hand hygiene, and PPE guidelines.
- Assist in preparing beds and arranging basic patient-care supplies.
- Respond promptly to instructions from nursing staff and hospital supervisors.
- Support patient admission, discharge, and internal shifting procedures.
- Handle patient belongings and hospital equipment responsibly.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
- Report emergencies, falls, patient discomfort, or unusual observations immediately to the nursing staff.
- Follow hospital policies, duty rosters, uniform requirements, and workplace discipline.

Eligibility Criteria

- Mandatory: GDA (General Duty Assistant) certificate from a recognized training institute.




- Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in a hospital, nursing home, or multispecialty healthcare facility.
- Experience in patient shifting, ward support, and assisting nursing staff is preferred.
- Basic understanding of hygiene, infection prevention, and patient safety.
- Physically fit to assist with patient movement safely.
- Good communication skills, polite behaviour, punctuality, and a patient-friendly attitude.
- Candidates with experience in emergency, ICU, or OT patient transportation will be preferred.

Working Conditions

- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including night shifts.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Must follow the instructions of the Nursing In-charge and Hospital Administration.
