About the Role
ITIFFY Consultants LLP is looking for a Senior Python Developer – AI Integration & Backend to join our technology team and work on an enterprise AI and Operations Intelligence platform. The role involves building a new intelligence layer around an existing enterprise Dealership Management System (DMS). The objective is to use a combination of Python, business rules, AI/LLM technologies, data integration and automation to identify operational issues, provide actionable insights, recommend next steps and progressively automate business workflows. This is not a pure Machine Learning research role. We are looking for a strong backend engineer who has hands-on experience integrating AI into real applications and can build reliable, production-ready services. You will work closely with the existing PHP developers and other engineering resources to design and develop the platform.

Key Responsibilities
1. Python Backend Development
• Design and develop scalable, maintainable Python backend services and REST APIs.
• Develop services using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask or Django.
• Build APIs and services that interact with the existing DMS and external systems.
• Design clean, modular and reusable backend components.
• Implement asynchronous/background processing where required.
• Write clean, testable and production-ready code. 2. AI & LLM Integration
• Integrate commercial AI/LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or similar platforms.
• Evaluate and integrate open-weight models such as Llama, Mistral, Gemma or similar models, where appropriate.
• Develop AI-powered workflows using structured data and business rules.
• Implement structured outputs, function/tool calling and AI-assisted decision workflows.
• Develop AI services for:
• Operational issue identification
• Exception detection
• Prioritization
• Recommendations
• Summarization
• Risk identification
• Next-best-action suggestions
• Build mechanisms to evaluate AI responses for accuracy, consistency and reliability.
• Implement appropriate model selection/routing based on use case, cost, performance and data sensitivity. 3. Data & Integration Engineering
• Integrate the AI layer with existing DMS data and business processes.
• Develop data extraction, transformation, validation and processing services.
• Integrate third-party APIs and external data sources.
• Work with APIs for systems such as:
• GPS/telematics
• Equipment monitoring
• Accounting systems
• Industrial/IoT systems
• Other enterprise applications
• Build reliable API communication, error handling and retry mechanisms.
• Ensure data consistency between the DMS and integrated systems. 4. RAG & AI Knowledge Systems
• Implement RAG/retrieval-based AI solutions where appropriate.
• Work with embeddings and vector databases.




• Integrate internal business documents, procedures and structured data into AI workflows.
• Ensure AI responses are grounded in authorised business data and information. 5. Database & Backend Engineering
• Work extensively with PostgreSQL/MySQL and relational data.
• Design and optimise database queries and schemas.
• Work with existing enterprise data structures and relationships.
• Develop efficient data-access layers.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks. 6. Security, Reliability & Production Readiness
• Implement secure API authentication and authorisation.
• Ensure sensitive business/customer data is handled appropriately.
• Build logging, monitoring and auditability into AI services.
• Implement appropriate safeguards around AI-generated recommendations and actions.
• Develop unit, integration and API tests.
• Troubleshoot production issues and performance problems.
• Participate in deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement. 7. Engineering Collaboration
• Work with the AI Architect to translate architecture into production systems.
• Collaborate with PHP/backend developers responsible for the existing DMS.
• Participate in technical discussions, design reviews and code reviews.
• Help establish development standards and best practices.
• Mentor junior/mid-level developers where required.
• Contribute to technical documentation. Required Skills & ExperienceEssential
• 5+ years of professional Python development experience.
• Solid experience developing production backend applications.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs and backend architecture.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Flask or Django.
• Experience integrating Generative AI/LLM APIs into real applications.
• Strong understanding of Python, OOP, clean code and software design principles.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and external systems.
• Strong understanding of JSON, API authentication and data processing.
• Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
• Good Linux/server knowledge.

• Understanding of conventional machine learning concepts.
